| Amateur STI Driver | I am buying an 08 STI and may make the purchase as soon as thursday (depending on if i close my Deal tomorrow) but the problem is i know there is a wealth of info on the site however there ar 2 problem, i do not have the time to search everything also TBH i have never owned a turbo car before and dont even know what to be looking for. I am in no means new to racing, i have been racing for about 4 years now but it has always been good ole american muscle, i own a 88' Iroc-Z with hand build 383 stroker and im pushing 672hp to the rear tires with a 100shot fogger system, but thats what i know, i know NOTHING about these small displacement Turbo cars. what i need is a list of upgrades (including different lube if one is far superior) and the break in routine for this car. i will be spending about 2000-3000 in additional upgrades for proformance for this car before as soon as i get it so if i could also know whats the best bang for my buck, (i want a blow off valve because i like the sound but heard it doen very little for performance) and also if anyone wants to give me some more advanced advise as far as how to spend some serious dough i will hopefully be getting my main sponsors of my '88 behind this car even though id like to keep it an everyday driver. thank you all in advance and again if it wasnt for me purchasing the car so soon i would spend the time to look everything up myself, im sure after i get it i will be devoted to this site. IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | First mod should be a Cobb AccessPort (engine management). 2nd should be a downpipe. Those 2 will get you to stage 2. You should not get a BOV. Unless you get tuned for the BOV it will actually harm your car. It won't really help much with HP gains until you put a bigger turbo on anyway. Congrats on the new purchase. Jagerbombs, Jagerbombs, Jagerbombs x100 (search "New Haircut" on youtube if you don't get that) |

| Amateur STI Driver | wow you guys are fast, what about a break in period, i ahve heard many a rumors down at the track ranging from "drive it like you stole it as soon as you get it" to "try to get 3000 miles before u go past 3/4 throttle" now i realise that 3k is probably a bit excessive but maybe im wrong? i planned on going on a road trip this weekend witht he car so i can rack up some nice easy highway cruise miles. also another rumor you guys might be able to debunk for me is i was told after driving hard before i shut the car off let it idle for atleast a full minute before shutting it off so the turbo doesnt warp? |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | you want a happy medium. Too much and it will restrict, not enough and youll creep boost wise. Dont worry about it though, generally speaking, less backpressure the better. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
