Default cel after connecting mysterious connector

hi guys new to the forums,
i am a proud new owner of an 05 sti, i am in love
well this morning i took it upon myself to install an aftermarket alarm, after struggling to make the doorlocks work i noticed that on both the passenger side and the driver side i had a green connector, but on the driver side it was disconnected.. well thinkning that would solve my probems i connected... well hours later once everything was said and done i start up my car and i got a glaring check engine light flashing its evilness at me.. after much thought and luckily before i ripped the alarm back out i decided to disconnect that mystery connector and low and behold the cel light was gone... any idea what i was messing with down there? for refrence it was located under the kick panel driver side black with red stripe wire with a green connector

Default Re: cel after connecting mysterious connector

Those are the green test connectors. when you connect them they put ECU into test mode, when that happens your CEL will come on and the fans will start to cycle. you always leave them disconnected except when reflashing your car with some sort of engine management(cobb AP, ecuTEK, ect.)
