Default Having trouble choosing model

I recently joined the maryland air national guard and they are giving me a signing bonus... i am tried of ppl passing me so i want a faster car, after doing some research i decided that the STI is the car for me! ('04-"07) but i have a few questions

1. what is the best year out of the 04-07's (some pro's and cons)
2. how many miles is "too much" to by the car

so let me know cause i'm pretty excited to buy it when i come back from basic training!

Wait till you get out, if you buy one while your in basic its going to go horrably slow.

Read the stickies.

The Used STi Buyer's Guide

As to mileage, it depends on how it was driven and maintained, and if it was modded.

what they said. everyone is baised based on which year they have. do a search for the differences between each year and decide which one you like best.

07...

Pros:
6 speed manual
Last of the boy racer look.

Cons:
Stock ECM mapping tends to make the engine go boom (especially with an aftermarket air intake)
Aftermarket ECM mapping is a must (i.e. Cobb Stage 1)

Its going to be hard finding a 3 year old car with only 20K mile on it.

After owning a 04 and 05, now finally a 06.....Get the 06.

07's I just don't know.

EDIT: Justification

04: diff suited for gravel
05: improvements, diff suited for tarmac
06: refined body, improved center diff
07: POS
08: expensive

I'm in the USAF and i don't think you'll get your money until you finish your tech school. But on the other hand i don't know how the NG works. I'm personally going to go with an '05 from everything i read about and also the STI buying guide that was linked above has some very good info in it. Well gl and have fun when you get it don't speed. lol
