Default Hey, new to IWSTI

New to the site- I'm very interested in the 08 STi. I know quite a bit already and learned quite alot lurking the forums the last couple weeks. I actually had my 06 WRX TR totalled from an accident on June 19th. Here's a link to the story and pics to scroll down: Good-Bye Baby, R.I.P 6/19/08 - NASIOC

So what I'm pretty much gonna do is buy my friends 1990 nissan 240 to have as a daily driver. Once I can get the money from the other persons insurance for personal injury I'll be looking into an 08 or 09 STi depending on what the 09 will have especially with the impreza GT and revised WRX coming to the table in 09. Either way it seems so far I'm gonna have cheaper insurance, need to buy sway bars, magnaflow is the best bang for the quality at ~$450 considering it's 4 tip and quiet at lower RPM's and I pray I don't somehow get plagued with something as bad as the turbo engine 2.5 recall for all 2008's. I'm also gonna have to worry about even worse paint problems then previous years(I was lucky, my paint didn't have a single issue).

A few questions I had is if there's a write up to taking apart the center console/dashboard for the 08 STi's? Anyone bother to do SS brake lines yet? Is a kartboy short shifter so much harder to install for the 08 then previous year STi's? Been hearing it takes well over a couple hours for the shifter and bushings.

Welcome to the forums and good luck with your next car. There's a GR-specific subforum here where your '08- and '09-specific questions will probably find more answers.

Had a 1991 240 fastback....I loved it. It was so cheap I drove it like I didn't care. First thing I ever drifted in because I didn't care about putting it into a wall. I am seriously considering getting another one to do an LS1 swap. It would kill in a straight line and not cost too much to slam into a wall...lord I love the 240.
