| Junior STI Driver Car: SWP 07 WRX STi Fav Mod: HKS Carbon- Ti Location: Middle Tennessee Posts: 90
IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Ok, to start off I know nothing about cars. I bought the car used in Atlanta a few months ago, it has SPT performance exhaust, or at least thats what a recipt said in the glove box. I know nothing about these cars and I would love some input on what parts to get and things like that. Also I would like tips on what to do so the car comes to no harm. Also, Why are parts so hard to find for the 2007? THANKS! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2006 Trader Rating: (15) | The parts are VERY easy to find for my06-07.. You just got to know where to look. There are pleanty of vendors on here with thousands of parts. You can pretty much replace everything but the chasis it self. As said above read you're heart out to find out about you're beast. It's an awsome car and has alot to offer. Master it in stock form first. |

Congrats on your purchase. I'm sure you knew *something* about the sti that led to your purchase, which is where a bunch of us where at when we got it. Like mentioned above, the stickies in each subforum are your friend. Also as mentioned above, learn the car as it is right now because even stock power can be overwhelming to the new driver. Then as you get used to the car, you will decide what areas you want to improve. That may be power, suspension, braking, so forth. As you are figuring that out, you should be reading. With the 07 a few quick pointers are: 1) Say no to BOV's. 2) Say no to aftermarket intakes until you are ready for a Protune (if you don't know what that is, just read). 3) Say no to boost controllers (that comes in when you get into heavy modding like upgrading turbos). 4) Say yes to Engine Management (EM). The hands down favorite on here is the Cobb Accessport (AP).

If you just type "STI parts" into Google you get (as always) very relevant results. Not to mention the very front page of iwsti that says "Check out these top products from top brands" in the dead center of the page. Scooby noobs are fine with me because everyone starts there, but unless this guy just discovered the internet/google the "why are parts hard to find" was totally standing in the line of fire. I had to pull the trigger on that one.

You definitely want to look into aftermarket Engine Management. If you can, try and find out from the person you bought it from what mods were done to the car and what engine management was placed on it. More than likely, you are running the reflashed SoA tune. It is in your best interest to purchase an aftermarket engine management device like the Cobb AP v2. It smooths out the power band and runs a more rich mix of fuel to protect against engine knock.

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (11) | This isn't a 5.0L Ford V8..........however, Parts aren't hard to find though, you just need to know: 1. What to look for. 2. Where to find it. We can guide you on both. You need to specify what you'd like to do to the car. Do you want more power? Better handling ? better braking? All of the above? This ad is not endorsed by this member.
