Default plans to make power but..

I have an 05 STi. Just bought it stock except for lowering springs. I have a plan on what i want to buy for the car. I want it to make more power but I dont want to be making crazy numbers. 400whp is more than enough for me. I want the to still be a nice daily driver without losing to much mpg. I want to do the following to it in the order that there listed. Please let me know if im making a mistake by doing something or should change the order or where a tune would be needed. Or even anything else I prob dont know about. All info is greatly appreciated. And please feel free to give your opinions on what products you feel will work best.

Cold air Intake
BOV
exhaust (up pipe, down pipe, all the way back catless)
FMIC
Turbo timer
Electronic Boost controller

Thank you

APS 70mm intake.
Turboback exhaust of your choice.
Protune.

And you should be at 300 whp on a good dyno. The BOV and FMIC will make the car run worse on the stock turbo.

Theres 10000 other threads on this, search.

bov and fmic wont be needed and pointless for stock turbo. turbo timer is pointless for stock turbo. you should just get a TBE and go stg2 with the cobb ap and see if you like the power and if you want more get a protune. and you wont make 400whp with the stock turbo.

The turbo timer isn't really necessary, since our stock turbos are oil and water cooled, but if you want it as a peice of "bling" go for it. Just saying you could use the money you saved on something else, like new a new downpipe gasket, heat wrap, and spray for your downpipe, exhaust hangers (not required), turbo heat sheild (which will be needed for correct fitment of the downpipe, unless you just cut your stock one) which would all add up to about the same price of a turbo timer.

Your mod order should go more like this:

Cobb Accessport
Full TBE exhaust
Cold air intake
Protune

You will be around 300whp give or take 5-10 depending on your tuners dyno.

Will a boost controller help make some power?

The stock ECU really wants to control the boost in the car, as it references a bunch of things. A manual boost controller is not recommended. If you find a tuner who wants to use one, that's up to you. I personally would not.

I have a boost controller, and the only thing it is useful for is compensating for altitute and temperature to some degree.

It doesn't really add power.

I would eliminate the CAI since the amount of power added is minimal, no offence. Mod order also makes good sense. Numbers seem right on.

No, it will just make the intake more audible. You'll get the whooshing sound when you get on it. You can get a similar effect by removing the stock intake silencer.

Like everyone else has said, no need for a turbo timer, BOV, or EBC. Go stage 2. TBE and tune. If you want more power at that point, throw in a fuel pump, CAI, injectors (maybe) and meth injection. Be happy with your new found power. But things add up quick and next thing you know you're almost $16000 into it. *sigh*
Here's a thread looking at getting to 400whp

Smartest way to achieve 400 whp
