New here and need some help.

Hello everybody

I am new to iwsti. (obviously thats why im posting here.) I just bought my first 05 silver sti. I have been in love with these cars since I first saw tham in 2004. I have been researching and trying to learn everything i can about these cars in the past 4 years and i still need help.

First off I'm new to any kind of forum so i dont know exactly what im doing. I dont know where to go to ask what questions. Evrything seems pretty strict on staying on topic. So any help on how to navigate around the site would be greatly appreciated.

Second I have so many questions. Like suggestions on parts, or if its safe or going to benefit me to do certain things. I guess i just need to explore the site more dont I? Any info would be great.

O another quick question. Did the 05 model come with fog lights in the bumper behind the piece with the sti logo?

Welcome and enjoy the new ride. Lots of good info and good people on here. The information in the stickies in each section are invaluable and be sure to use the search-its your friend. Don't be afraid to ask questions though as everyone here is friendly.

So what mods/mileage are on the 05 you picked up?

Oh and its wired up to accept fog lights but if the covers are in place then no the lights aren't behind them. I'm sure you could pick up the fogs at your local stealership or subarugenuineparts. For the 05's I think you can also use the jdm fogs which look nice. Search or check sojdm's site.

I actually bought the car on saterday and am picking it up today. When it was on the lot I noticed the previous owner had a fmic on there. I pulled off one of the cover for the fog lights an to my surprise there they were. I didnt think they came with them. But the car is stock except for the fogs and lowering springs. The springs are yellow which leads me to believe they are H&R. Is that possible?

The fmic mod is a fairly expensive one and I would think there may be more, such as a stage II tune at the very least. Most people do not install fmic's unless they have an aftermarket turbo. I would have an experienced tuner go over the car to determine what other mods may have been done whether there is any engine management installed. Good luck and welcome to the site.

Score if the foglights were actually behind there. As for the front mount, yeah if its got one I imagine there are quite a few more mods so you'll want to inspect it thoroughly.

As for the springs, I think H&R's are red (don't quote me on that). If they are yellow my guess would probably be RaceCompEngineering yellow springs (you'll see them listed alot as RCE on the boards if you try searching).

EDIT: Yeah just went looking (bored at work

) and I think the H&R springs are black so don't think thats what you have
