The 2007 STi had an "odd" tune so to say from the factory in the stock form, so Engine Manegment would be a smart choice. Given that yours has a down pipe, you are REQUIRED to have engine Manegment, most popular and easiest to use being the Cobb Accessport. You can harm the car if you don't have your ECU reflashed, so absolutely look into it ASAP. It will run you $695 new, various prices used from aroind $3-400 on.

If it has an exhaust and does not come with a tune or the accessport, I would not buy it. It is a huge risk. At bare minimum tell them you want to have the compression tested before you buy. The 07's are very picky with the parts and their tune. Not to scare you but I popped stock. Take as many precautions as you can.

Even after I popped mine, I still love it and its catted stage 2 with injectors and made 305whp; 340wtq.

It cannot be stressed enough to make sure you have engine management. Ask your salesperson to speak w the previous owner to determine what EM is on the ECU. It is not enough to have him say, " Oh yea sure there's EM on the car". Ask him to furnish some kind of proof that the car has had EM loaded to the ECU. I wouldn't buy unless he can do this. Here's where it is imperative that u know what your talking about. Do some reading, search will tell u everything you need to know. Good luck.

I agree w/everyone above. That car must have any EM if it doesn't already. Ask what EM is installed before buying. I would ask for a compression test and leak before anything.

+1 on the above. Be careful buying an 07 with the above mods, especially DP and intake if it is un-tuned. They need EM. Compression/leakdown tests are a good idea, make sure you get a copy of the results. I'd also make sure they will still cover the full warranty of the vehicle with those mods, again, mods listed, in writing.

Otherwise, good luck and post some pics!

thanks for all the advise
the factory warenty still has a remaining balance and they are offering a exstended warenty they did a 140 point inspection
what should the compression ratio be?
basically my only option of reflashing the ecu is ACCESPORT?

Make sure that they are still honoring the factory warranty even though there is an after market downpipe on the car. Put it in writing.

+1 on La Mer.

Compression: High 130's low 140's IIRC. Leakdown is a different #, unsure of range.

No, the AP is only one option, but for many (including myself) it is the easiest.)

Dont buy either, there was one in chicago for sale for 28995 with 4k miles on it and it was stock. Ur getting ripped so bad dude, they probably wouldnt go down to 26-27k either. If they wont give it to u for less than 27k ur getting ripped off id say. I'm 18 also and they wouldnt give me **** on my trade, my mom went in and told them to give my keys back cause she was getting ripped off and that she didnt even want me to get that car. They gave me 1500 dollars more on my trade! Bring ur parents tho, especially ur dad because they wont try to rip off a man no offense to anyone. If u go alone they wont take u seriously and probably wont take much off at all or let u test drive it.

By the way I paid the difference between my old car and my STi, my parents didnt. Its just good to have older people there cause theyve been through the car buying process way more than we have.

Wow...those prices are pretty steep. 7K is worth more than $1K IMHO. If I HAD to pick, I'd go with the one w/o the dp, just because of not knowing what was done prior.

Idk thats still pretty damn pricey. I honestly would wait it out dude, but if you really must get one now get the one with just the SPT intake and SPT exhaust because a less chance of being beat on but not too much less lol bec. people like to beat on this car alot including myself. If you can take the pain in waiting for a good deal it would really help you in the end tho. I waited about 5 months for the perfect priced one for me, and I could never be happier. What colors by the way?
