Default n00b saying hi

hey guys i am new to the whole subi thing, i am mostly into volvos and know them inside and out but i think i am ready to move on and a sti is in my sites. i just would like to know what to look for while i am shopping for a sti, like what is the best year, what should i look for to see if its a solid car and also what goes wrong on them the most. i hope to be driving a white one by the end of july i just need to sell my car. so let me know and hopefully i will have something to show off on this site.

thanks
mike

every year has its difference and its an on-going i guess arguement over which year is the best.

read the stickeys they cover a lot. and use the search feature there is a lot of information.

as far as what to look, i'm sure boony will post here soon to welcome you and in his signature he has a link for the used sti buying guide.

also welcome to the site

edit: i went and found it for ya. The Used STi Buyer's Guide

They are two very different cars. If you drive both, I think you'll realize that. Don't buy a WRX and try to make it an STi. At that point, you should have gotten an STi.

If you want to be safe, DON'T drive the STi. The insurance difference is probably not that significant. Price it out. I could easily be wrong on that.

yea i wasnt going to go all crazy with it. i wish i could afford a sti that would be amazing!!! the only thing i really want to do is exhaust, intake, bov, ebc, fmic, and some cosmetic stuff i love the way the look and sound and thing i will be happy with jst those little mods. maybe in a few years when i am getting paid more i will sell the wrx and go all ot brand new sti (by this time they should be even better)
