Default 30K Fluid Service not done!! How Bad!!!??

I am about to purchase an 05 sti that is in normal condition, for its age. The kicker is the guy has kept up on the oil changes and air filter. The spark plugs have just been changed within the last month. The car currently has 50K miles on it and it never got the fluids changed @ 30K miles. Meaning Diff fluid, trans fluid, and coolant!! In a way that worries me. Does anyone have any knowledge of what could happen to the car if the fluids were not done routinely? I know on a normal car ie Honda civic type, its no big deal, but this is no honda civic. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

Matt

Take it to a Subaru dealership and have it inspected.

Preventive maintenance is just that...preventive. I would be more concerned about the engine coolant since it is not just an inspection item on the 30K list. The dealership or shop may suggest flushing the system as opposed to just draining and replacing the coolant.

Differential fluid and Transmission fluid only require inspection at 30K so they might be fine. Just have them inspected.

I would think that inspection on these items would be a reasonable cost to assume before buying the car. If it needs work, ask the seller for more off of the price tag to cover the added costs.

I don't think it hurt anything.... Just do it as soon as you can.

If you're concerned about deferred maintenance on a 50K mile '05, maybe you'd be interested in a very low mileage '07 in MO.

Contact bytor is you are.

Was the car tracked at all? How was it driven?

Again, was it tracked?

DDing is not that hard on diffs/gears compared to tracking.

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess it wasn't as clear as I thought.

Let's try it this way.

Bytor has an CGM '07 STi for sale. It has only 5,000 miles (if I remember correctly) and is located in Missouri.

Contact bytor (iwsti.com username) if you are interested in finding out more about his car.

With questionable cars its best to have them thoroughly inspected by a qualified mechanic. Have them check it out and let you know if the car is in proper working order. If it is then fine, if not, do not buy it.
