Um, what does it sound like? Plastic? Metallic? Where is it coming from? What speed? What's the engine speed?

I understand we have two different cars. I have a 00' RS and you have an STI however, Id like to point out that in second gear whenever i hit 2000 rpm and i believe it to be the center diff. So maybe that may be it.

My curiosity would keep me hunting in case it is something important. That being said, I've had my 07 for about a year and honestly and I don't pay much attention anymore. There's always something rattling or making noise. I just step on the gas and listen to the exhaust

These cars are fully of rattles, noises, and other strange phenomena. It could seriously be ANYTHING, like a loose heat shield, or it may just be normal. FYI, the tranny/driveline does have some noise to it.

There are a few things that rattle in the front of the car. Get under it and check the heat shields on the header and up-pipe as these can get loose and cause annoying rattles. Also, if the rattle is most pronounced after getting on it you could be hearing the waste gate flap. But I am betting that its a constant rattle and its just a loose heat shield. Nothing to worry about, just find it and clamp it down.
