The AP is the Cobb Access Port. Its a little device that plugs into your obdII port and allows you to reflash the ECU. They have base maps for a stock car with no mods that smooths out some tune problems and then a stage 2 map for cars with a turbo back exhaust. Plus allows tuners to create custom maps for you based on your car/mods.

Basically its one of several options when it comes to engine management. There's also openecu tuning, turboxs utec and a handful of others. Which one you choose is up to you and depends on your comfort level, how much your willing to spend and what software your chosen tuner may use. Plenty of info on all of them with a search.

Its kind of agreed that the 07's have a crappy tune from the factory and some form of EM is recommended. The AP is nice because its kinda plug and play and they have the stage 1 map for stock cars without any mods yet. Whatever your choice just don't go messing around with power mods (downpipe, intake) without some form of EM. A new dp (especially a catless one) on an 07 without a tune is just asking for trouble.

And there is nothing wrong with the 05 tails, they look 1000x's better than the 07's. I have a set of 05's as well, its one of my favorite mods. If you don't like them i know there are a few hundred people on here that would be willing to trade lol.

Jesus thats pretty expensive, but has some cool features. I loveee the sound of the sti and when I pick it up will have about $500 disposable income for a mod... I will keep the AP in mind but I was really thinking of somthing like a BOV (if thats the correct term). Or somthing to make the exhaust sound better :P

edit: Not better... but louder!

lol yeah now that I've seen people been calling them ricer tails and stuff its put me off the 06/07 tails a bit more, but they do look much newer... a bit more agressive IMO. I will probably keep them and do this:

How do I smoke that section of the tailights? That looks sooo sick.

I know, the 05 tail w/ the dark portion looks sexy as hell, I just wouldn't know how to do that. I'd prefer not to take it to a paint shop lolol

Yeah that pick is Dragicon's car I think. He takes the sickest pictures.

Anyway, saw you mention above maybe getting a bov with the disposable cash you will have at purchase. Let me tell you that kind of talk will get you flamed mercilessly (ok that's not entirely true because this is a great community). At any rate bov's are not the best (checkout the stickies) and probably not needed until way down the road after a turbo swap. You'd be much better putting that money toward something else.

Oh and to paint the taillights; as opposed to the tinted overlays above; you have to either find the courage to cut open your taillights (they're sealed up hard and don't pull apart like the headlights) or send them off to lightwerkz for modification.

In the pic above they are just tint layed on the clear portion of the light instead of the whole thing. I'm guessing they are blue batmobile tint but you'd have to ask Dragicon

I wanted to hear some winter tires you guys are sporting... I want to find a used set of Enkei Racing RPF1 in black, and throw some sick winter tires on. My buddy works at fountain tire so I can get them at cost basically.

Well lots of choices out there. I currently have to 2 sets of rims: the gold bbs with re070's and then for winter I took another set of bbs I got a deal on and painted them graphite. As winter tires I use Nokian WR's and love them. They aren't a pure winter tire but instead an all season that carries the severe service rating. Of course I live in NC where I would chew up a pure snow tire a little to quickly. I would check out Nokian (for the WR or Hakkapeliitta) or Bridgestone Blizzaks (LM-22 or 25 probably, can't remember)

It snows here like 7 or 8 months of the year basically so its gonna be a awesome car to have. I really will miss my type-s though cause its such a great car and looked sexy (coupe). but turbo... 300hp... awd... makes me tingle :P
I'll trade you my 07 tails for the 05's once you get the car if you want
