Default Certified 05 Question

I am looking at a 2005 STI, WRB, 39k on the clock. The salesman, who I feel is a good guy, told me $24,735. I felt this is a little high for an 05, but maybe b/c it is certified it carries a higher price.

Any input?

Thanks

Certified cars are typically priced higher, but that does not mean you have to buy it at that price. Buying a car is a contest of whom can screw whom the best. A 2005 STi is a 3 - 4 year-old car depending on when in the model year the car was purchased. It is out of warranty (factory bumper to bumper), and the certification is supposed to allay any fears of the car having a mechanical failure. Even though the powertrain warranty runs to 60k miles, it is a LIMITED warranty, and dealerships love to deny warranty work on these cars. Be aware.

Unless the certification process included a compression/leakdown test, a peek at the diffs, and a turbo inspection, I wouldn't really care one way or another. Do your own inspection. Offer what YOU believe is a fair price for the car. If they do not accept it, move on. Do not overpay.
