Default Couldnt sleep good last night, but i got it!!!

Well i finally got one
04 stock wrb sti that needs tires w/40k on the dial. Think im gonna get a set of Falken RT615's. Seller forgot the 2nd key so i guess car will be garage kept till i get it.
Quick questions:
Is it normal for temp to be between 1/2 and 3/4 when idiling for a long time?
Stays at 1/2 when im crusing.
Back struts were replaced twice already. Last ones at 30k via warranty, car is at 40k now. Is this gonna be a re-acuring problem and i should start saving for aftermarket ones? I do know this is an existing problem for 04-05 models but if they go out again i dont think it'll be under warranty anymore. That is also why im replacing tires. The seller said he should have gotten suby to cover the tires since the struts caused cupping.

Congratulations! My temp never goes above 1/2 even at the track but maybe what you're seeing is normal for your year. Also, don't save for new struts, save for a nice set of coilovers because the stock struts will continue to fail.

You'd think for the price of the car you'd get better struts.

Welcome, my car also never gets above half. 3/4 at idle seems kind of hot to me but I could be wrong. The struts were replaced because they clunk... Subaru says that the clunking doesn't affect performance so you don't have to replace them. A cheap fix for strut clunk is to oil them when they start clunking.

Enjoy the new car!

Have the coolant replaced. As a matter of fact, you might want to have a service place do the entire 30k service, just in case. If you have receipts for it, great, no worries. Otherwise, I'd have it done.

And the stock struts WILL fail eventually. You can buy take-offs from a lot of guys who upgrade, but there are better pieces available for not a lot of money. Especially for the 04.

30k service at suby dealer here is quoted 550-620. For that price i will do it myself and keep my reciepts. oil&filter/coolant flush/tranny &reardiff fluids/belts/flush brakes.

Update, BTW ive been watching my temps all week and they never went above 1/2.

Im debating on what mods to do first. Thinking ebc yellow pads and powerslot rotors or v spec lip. I can buy APv2 and flash stage 1 till i buy DP then go Stage2. 20% Window tint. 2 way Alarm? Im not sure where to start. Technically i guess i already started lol.....

So far i ordered a new set of kuhmo SPT tires and bought a radar detector this week.

3/4 temp is definitly high. I have 80k on my 05. I live in the desert where the summer low is 90 highs in 110s. Never seen mine go above 1/2. Also been through 1 set of struts. get your coolant flushed as said above in the 30k service.
