Default The drive home?

Hey all,

So anyway, I should be picking up my 06 STI later this week from about 90mi away. My question is that when I was test driving the STI, the I/C light came on, signaling that it needed a good squirt of water. I don't plan on going "back to the future" on the way home or nothing, but for normal driving for this amount of distance, should I just pick up a few bottles of distilled water to throw in the water spray tank? Does the light usually come on during normal driving as well, or just a spirited run when getting low? I'd imagine the turbo builds some heat just with normal driving, but does the hood scoop give the intercooler sufficient air flow for a highway drive home? What do you all suggest I should do?... I suppose it won't hurt just to get some water anyway though.

Thanks,

B

when the IC light comes on all you have to do is refill your tank. It does not tell you when your IC needs water

Okay, thanks, I wasn't sure if it came on, signaling that I needed to press the water spray button or not. I was confused because a turbo car is completely different from anything I've ever known... Especially one with a top mount that requires a squirt of water every now and then.

Just drive it home and enjoy it. you dont need to do a single thing except put some gas in it. 90mi. is nothing at all. The IC spray light indicates when the tank is low. Good luck picking the car up!! and enjoy the ride home...

No problem. I usually give it a few squirts of water when sitting in traffic for a while to try to prevent heatsoak. When your moving its not that big of a deal because air is flowing throught it.

EDIT: oh yeah, Enjoy your STI. 06 FTW!

Haha, well hopefully the dealer will take care of the gas situation... Either way, I'm stoked!!! I just knew that I couldn't pass it up becuase it's a WRB 06 with 11K on it... Not too shabby!
