Default Future New Sti owner

Just wanna say hi to everyone. I just got done test driving an 04 wrb sti w/42k on odometer. Car is completely stock, 1 owner in upper 30's out in the country who has multiple vehicles. The car was garage kept and only driven in the summer.

I followed numerous used STI buying guides and the car passed IMO and doesnt look like it was beaten on/abused. Only 2 things i found wrong with the car is the back tires are loud and wore out and needs a new alternator belt. I jacked up the car and checked the hub/bearings werent loose. He said it was do to the power ratio of the car being 35/60 and he didnt do the tire rotation recently like he should have. I figure being AWD i have to replace all the tires then.

Car runs great, idles perfectly,no mods except sound system, fluids smell/look good . He said the back struts went out twice on him and were a factory service bulletin at one point, but said it was covered under warranty.

I talked him down from 20,500 to 19,500 since i have to put tires and a belt on. I think thats a good price for a sti in my area because all the dealers near me sell an 04 with same miles for 24k bucks. Regular WRX with 40k miles go for 18,000.00 around here. Hopefully this thing will run strong and last me along time with no major repairs. I know its hared to find a stock non abused sti.

the worn back tires could also mean he's been spinning donuts with it, but it's hard to say. all in all, $19.5k isn't a bad deal. you'll still have 18k miles on the drivetrain warrenty. good luck!

Well the in actuality the tread wear in fronts were 5 and the backs were at 4/32. Problem is that the backs were cupped and when you drive the vehicle its really lound in the back. Thats why i checked to make sure the hubs/bearings didnt need replaced. The camber didnt look off and he had cheap tires on the car. Back struts went out twice so that might have made and impact on the back tires cupping.

Im guessing since AWD i have to replace all 4 tires. So i've been reading posts on what are a good set of tires that arent outrageously priced.

I was thinking BFGoodrich g-force super sport a/s. I know they're all season but im not sure if im willing to buy all out summer tires and buy a set of winter tires in 5 mths. Opinions/suggestions welcome, thanks

if it was only driven in the summer, 42k miles seems like alot to me. if you think about it three months out of the year for how old the car is (4+ years) is only 9-12 months he has driven it. Thats around 4000 miles a month..just seems like alot to me

but if you look at is as 42k in 4 years, 10k a year is pretty normal

just my .02

Yeah i thought about about that which is why i thoroughly went over the vehicle. There is no rust at all, and being in PA during winter alot of salt is dropped. Then again i dont knwo how great subarus are at rusting out. The outside condition is excellent so i know it was garage kept and the interior looked mint.

quick question
if I go to mysubaru.com and sign up using the vin and my info will that update suby with the new ownership for the remaining warranty thats still left on the car?
Also can I buy an extended vehicle warranty from Subaru or is that only 1 time offers when you buy a vehicle new?
