Why would you stay away....

If it is properlly maintained it will continue running strong as it was new.

I have 105K right now almost 106K on my 05' STi and have no problems. There are a bunch of STi's on here with over 100K still running strong.

I say go take a good luck at it, drive it, maybe have another STi owner with some knowledge go with you to take a look at it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that our turbos typically last 100k on average. The cost of replacement should be figured in for the turbo.

The turbo could last longer. It depends on mods. Most people who are stage 2 will do a turbo around 100K or a little higher (I am going to do mine soon). There were members on here with 120+ on their stock turbo and mild mods.

The cost of a VF39 from the dealer is around 1K if I remember right. But the cost of a silghtly used VF39 from a member on here is around $400. So it's really not that bad to put a newer turbo on.

Check the Used STi Buying Guide. It's a sticky in the General Forum, I believe.

On a higher mileage car, I'd request permission to do leakdown and compression tests on the engine. Check for fluid leaks, check the radiator for signs of patching. Make sure the car has all the equipment it SHOULD have. Etc.
