Default s2k vs. sti

im planning on selling my s2k for a sti so i can have more room. but ive read on here that the sti only makes around 200-210 hp to the wheels and it ways around 3,200lbs. the s2k makes around 200 hp to the wheels and it ways 2800, so....theoretically the s2k should be faster than the sti. i cant figure this one out, if someone could enlighten me that would be great! Thanks!

Well, the STi doesn't lose 90-100hp through the drivetrain so let me debunk that one right now. Stock vs stock the STi will come out ahead every time... that's if you're looking for straight line speed. As far as handling, I'd have to give that one to the S2k, they're awesome cars in the twisties

Also the s2k only makes about 100 ftlbs to the wheels. That is where the difference comes in. When you feel torque for the first time, you are gonna **** a brick.

stock stis make around 240-250 hp to the wheels and have much wider power bands and short gearing...

Lets not argue dyno numbers without saying what type of dyno please. Which makes more power at the wheels on the same dyno? STI or S2K? I'm guessing STI but I could be wrong.

Stock for Stock the STI will outrun the S2k straight line every time, Dig or roll. Test drive one, you will not be disappointed. Torque FTW!

My best friend owns a s2k and i see it practically everyday. He has never beaten me in a race before. He even tried to cheat and pull a head start on me but i would just pass him up. s2ks are fun cars to drive but when you put them both to the test, the sti wins overall. As for the twisties, i wouldn't know because i am on a coilover set-up and i always dust him. Can't really say much for the stock sti suspension but it seems reasonable that the s2k would tie or beat the sti in the twisties. The s2k handles like a go-kart! But where the hell is the torque? I call his s2k torque-less wonder btw.

What dyno (as was asked earlier)? I don't know of any S2ks that are running 200whp in stock form, but I'm not really a Honda guy.

The only way you're going to find out which one you like more is to drive the STi. Really. Not rocket science. You own the S2k. Take it to a road you like and drive it. Then go get an STi and test drive it on the same road.

Make decision.

Profit.

Having owned both, performance numbers aside the s2k is a far better car IMO in overall build quality and reliability and the feel you get when driving it. People can try and compare the sti and s2k all day long but in the end its comparing apples to oranges. They are two distinctly different cars. If you want power and all year round drive ability the sti is the obvious choice. You could put the same amount of money into each of the cars and the sti will almost always be faster. Unfortunately for me my s2k got totalled while parked in front of my house. I went looking for others but for some reason i drove an sti. i was woowed by the power and the turbo like the other guys said you'll sh*t a brick when you feel the torque, but now that i look back at it i should've gotten another S. When my S had header, intake, exhaust i ran a stock 05 sti from a roll and kept up with him until about 100 where he only had me by about a fender, so i was pretty pleased with how the s did. My S in that state of tune was getting roughly 30 mpg highway as well.As far as reliability the honda wins hands down. that f20 is fully forged not this usdm sti nonsense with cast pistons and people blowing them up and stuff. My only negative i can say about the s is the rear end which comes out of a miata. If you wanna sit there and launch the car all day and do smoke shows your gonna break it, but if you dont abuse it, it wont break. The way that tranny shifts in the S is dead on, the shifter in the sti is nowhere near as precise even with all the bushings and levers and whatnot. although the s is by no means a torque monster its not meant to be, however when you wind that motor out to the 9k redline your not wondering where the torque is your wondering how your gonna take that next corner... sorry for the little rant but i think your best bet is to drive and sti but dont let the torque and sound of that turbo spoolin up make the decision for you. think about it for a while and make your decision wisely

^ I agree about build quality... s2k hands down. butt in 2008, s2k is bottom of the barrel, in terms of power/performance. If you want power, you should only consider the 07 350z, newer sti, evo 9 or 10 and bimmer 335, if your budget allows it.
