You do know the definition of intuitive or intuition don't you? If you do you would know that my response makes perfect sense. If you don't know the definition feel free to pm me with the answer so I don't embarrass you any further.

BTW, it has to do with thought.

Probably scared the OP away. Nice work.

But really, all you have to do is test drive both cars. For me, the feeling of being thrown back into your seat from the mid-range torque never gets old. I also love the DCCD. I love the notchy shifter. I like sitting on struts, because I like the adaptability of the car for tarmac OR off-road use. It is a very high-tech car which suits my personality.

However, I can imagine that the low seating position, responsive handling and butter-smooth gearbox in the s2k are appealing to others. It has its own gizmos which are sort of neat and give the car its own character. It is a great track car. It is easy to get the back end loose, which can be fun. You can take off the top and go on a nice Sunday cruise. You feel more connected to the car when you're in an s2k.

cn: Putting down all of the power and feeling the rush of a turbo, with very little loss of fun in adverse surface conditions. OR, driving with the top down on a sunny day, feeling low to the ground, and feeling connected to the road.

Unfortunately you can't get both, at least not in this price range.

BTW,
From what I've seen, on the same dyno, the STi will make 40+ more horsepower.

From what I've seen, a stock STi and s2k will be neck and neck on your average road course.

k, i'm done preachin

Whats the hit on Subarus quality ? Other than the paint I cant think of any real issues ! I know a cat who is running over 450 whp on his stock internals for nearly 15000 miles and has no issues as of yet . The pistons while they could be improved by being forged are actually quite stong .

The OP's concerns were very similar to mine when I was trading in my RX8 for the STi. Looking back I have absolutely no regrets. The RX8 had excellent seat position, 9k redline and phenomenal handling, but like the s2k, it was torque-less and not a great all-year round DD (at least here where it snows). The STi is a huge improvement in terms of power, reliable mod-ability, and AWD handling. It's more practical with it's 4-seats and usable trunk, and it's a blast to drive. You really can't go wrong with it.

i also went from a s2k to a sti. i loved my s2k, fantastic car. But unfortunately it was my DD. Lack of room sucked and got old quick. So i traded it in on a 07 sti. i couldnt be happier with that choice. The sti's interior wasnt quite up to s2k standards. But overall with the extra room, the extra power, and the torque i couldnt be happier. would love to get another s2k one day as a weekend driver.

My friend has s2k and i have 06 sti and yea, sometimes two dudes riding with top down looks kind of fruity. Anyways, to me, the sti's quality and reliability rocks. Yea, there are some squeaks and rattles that could improve but every car has its own rattles and squeaks. As for reliability, my stock sti has ZERO problems and im about to hit 30k. This is just with regular oil changes and nothing else.

oh and everybody and their mom drives S2k around where I live... i've only seen 1 female drive the sti

I would go with an STi over the S2k any day. The STi is more practical for winter driving and if your looking to actually drive people around because it is a sedan. The s2k is one of the most uncomfortable cars ive sat in. When i sat in it at the auto show my arm was slamming into the door panel. I'm 5'10'' too not even that tall. Whenever i see someone on the road in one they look very uncomfortable. Saw a pretty big guy looked like he was gana pop thorugh the roof.

Another thing is, both cars I do not see too much of but the STi, I can drive around all day and get so many head turns. Especially kids my age looking at me like wtf? I love it, the gold rims, hood scoop, and big wing attract so much attention but not always positive attention. Cops are pretty attracted to this car and the S2k i could see would be better for not attracting cops.

I had a RSX before i got my STi and I promised myself i would never get a honda again because of the absence of torque. It was possibly the most annoying thing ever not having torque. Now that I have my STi it just feels amazing.

Honestly, I think the STi is a real mans car and I view the s2k as a little toy that a woman should be driving. Plus, I hate convertibles.

I don't really understand all this controversy and hating between these two cars. They are simply not in the same class of cars. It's the old comparison between apples and oranges, not the same. I have owned both and thoroughly enjoyed both. Each car has its strengths and each has its weak points. I traded my S2K for my STI. If could have, I would have kept the S2K for top down cruising and week-ends. They are both very well engineered and do their intended purpose very well. Personally, I love top down cruising but it's just not possible w the STI. We should all just let this thread die. And move on.

S2k has a much better transmission, better build quality, cooler gauges and is probably more fun to drive.

The STI has way more room and is built for people over 6 feet tall. It's also faster and has the advantages and disadvantages that come with AWD.

The S2000 is an excellent car, but I'd never buy one. If I wanted a small car with no storage space I'd get a used Lotus Elise.

I've never driven anything that had a nicer gearbox feel than the S2K! Super tight and snickety! Miss my old S2K dearly. However, having 4 doors, crazy torque, a usable trunk and two extra seats won me over with its practicality. If I could have 2 cars...the S2K would be an awesome weekend car.

I don't get what you find so funny about what I said. Have you driven both cars? The S2000 probably has the smoothest shifting transmissions ever made. I have driven Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs, ect ect.. and nothing has had the perfect feel of the S2Ks shifter. The STI on the other hand has a nice shifting transmission when you shift it slowly. When you shift quickly it is very notchy and easy to grind. If you don't believe me search around on the net. I'm sure most people who have driven both cars would agree with me.

Edit: if you look at the post above mine it looks like someone who has experience with both cars posted the same opinion as mine when I was typing this post. Are you going to laugh at him too?
