Default Subaru Cooling, I'm concerned.

I'm concerned about my 08 STi, tempratures here in my country vary from 86F to 113F-- what precautions can I take to keep my STi running strong?

Thanks in advance.

You should be fine. It gets about the same here in the deserts. If you notice temps rising above normal levels maybe you should look into an aftermarket radiator andd oil cooler. Do you plan on tracking the car at all?

Yes, I'm planning to. That's why I'm really concerned.. I dont have engine readings at all except for the engine temp, and I'm also looking for a screen that would display engine readings(oil temp etc..) as I'm unsure about the oil temp. I was thinking maybe I'd invest in an oil cooling system.

speaking of aftermarket radiator, do you have any suggestions? I've been told that the subaru stock radiator is very capable of keeping the engine running cool, but it doesnt hurt to ask. lol

honestly those temps are not all that crazy, its like that in many parts of this country as well. i would def. recommend an oil cooler and some gauges however, as these cars could benefit from both even if just for a little piece of mind. I've seen a lot of people run Koyo radiators on these boards, but if youre a baller there's always ARC

if you plan on tracking the car and consistently see temps aboive 80F, id recommend a new radiator, a new thermostat and the oil cooler.

I found an oil cooler kit, but it's intended for the 02-07s.
Would it fit an 08? o_O

Oil cooler, T-stat, radiator, heat wrap, etc are all good places to start. However, you can also get creative with things such as ducting, and shielding. I also put some reflective "silver foil" tape on my oil pan since it is right next to the exhaust manifold, and have definitely noticed lower temps.

I'd like to try ducting, but I'm not much of a technical person. heat shielding sounds like a great idea, could you elaborate? what can be shielded?
Covering the oil pan sounds like a great idea also, I'm going to give it a shot.

Thanks

Since you have an '08 I'm not too sure about the layout of things...but FWIW, on my '05 I'm doing a ducting project to route an "interior vacuum hose" from the fog cover to the intake area.

If you have an aftermarket intake, get the SPT heatshield, or something like it. Also, a turbo heatshield may be in store (Cobb, Cusco, etc all make them). Look into turbo blankets as well...

But it really comes down to what mods you have, and how you can maximize them with the ducting, etc.

The options are really endles...
