Default Hey Guys

Hey,

My name is Matthew, aka Keyoshi. I was directed to these forums by one of my friends. I've been lookin around a few days, it looks pretty nice, so I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 16 years old and live just outside D.C. I have been in love with Subarus since my dad showed me this video, YouTube - Mixed Rally Racing Clips!! , when I was real young. I would love to get a WRX or STi as a first car. I realize they are both fast cars, but I'm not really into drag racing / street racing....drifting seems more interesting.

Hope to learn a lot about the cars. I probably won't post much though cause I'm not that knowledgeable about them...but I will always be here ^_^

-Keyoshi

I would highly recommend that you do not get this for your first car because you have no idea how tempting it will be to floor this car. I just purchased one today and I had to question myself whether I was mature enough to handle a car like this and im 18. It is not a drifting car either, well im sure you can try, Peter Solberg sure did but this car is for the best handling and acceleration around. If you go with ur parents to buy the car which ull have to, i guarantee u the salesman will talk about how fast it was and having my mom there, she kinda wasnt happy after she heard about 5x that it could stick with a 911 turbo on a track.

Hehe I know the car can't drift ^_^ Flooring it would be quite tempting like you said...but the roads around here x_x omg. I will take the advice though. I think like most of the other guys though...save it for the track.

Too much car for a 16 year old and more than enough car for a 20 year old like me.

Get something much more tame for your first car, you'll thank yourself for it.

Yea most of the other guys do not save it for the track. Ive seen plenty of Sti's around chicago flooring it. Being 16 and just being able to drive, it'll be quite hard to hold in ur urges till u get ur first ticket.

+1

...just let your dad test drive it and he'll fall in love with it if you really wanna get one. Thats what i did, my dad was biased cause hes european (wanted me to get a bmw/german car), and little did he know he would fall in love with the car just like me. I have to pry the keys from him sometimes now.

Heh, I'll give a lil more detail. I'm not getting it immediately. I'm waiting a little while till I 1) have more driving experience and 2) have enough money to pay for atleat half of it, or make a down payment and then keep paying my parents off.

Serious story Boost 0.o Wouldn't work on my dad...far away =/

If you choose to get an STi though, you need to go to the dealership ready to buy the car. Here in Chicago, I've lost about 3 STi's because I went to look at it and then left. Was sold that day or the next. The ones priced good obviously sell in a day or less. When I bought mine, I just happened to be the first to get there and it was on autotrader for one day. Later on in the day about 3 or 4 other people came to buy it. If you find the one you like though you gotta jump on it.

A WRX or STi should not be your first car there is a lot of learning experience that goes into driving and I know a lot of young drivers do a lot of stupid things. It would be safer to pick a slow car to start with and gradually get faster cars as you get more experience. If you still like Subaru's what about an Impreza 2.5rs/2.5i depending on your price range.
