Default Rev Limiter Knob

I'm having a real problem, I want to set my Rev's to about 6500 and I want to turn the beep noise on, which doesnt sound too hard, but my problem is I can't get the knob to turn clockwise, it turns counter-clockwise easily, but doesn't want to move the other way, I'm a total newb to subaru's, is there a trick to this?

Make sure the car is at a complete stop and just barely twist the knob clockwise, since the knob does not move freely. Once the needle jumps a little hold it to the right and set the limiter wherever you want and let go. After that the beep will not me on until you turn the knob once more. If this sound confusing read the manual.

yea I read through the manual and tried to follow the instructions exactly, the knob turns super easily counter clockwise, but doesn't want to move AT ALL clockwise, should I have my car running when doing this or just in position three or.... sorry, like I said I'm a newb, just bought it yesterday.

car should be off, igintion should be on

Look at your outside temperature window, it will tell you two digits of your rev limiter, example 70 means 7000rpm and then the window will flash "on"

per chaos's response, "rev limiter" in this case is the shift light

I just want to make it clear, that you are not actually changing the rev limiter, only the point at which the beep comes on.

I think I might have to take it in to service or something, I tried everything, pressed the trip button, it shows 00, turned the ignition to ACC, and turned the knob counter clockwise, beeps, went back to original position, tried to turn the knob right, and it wont move one bit, tried to turn the knob to the right as soon as turning it to ACC, same problem, wont move one little bit. It moves quite easily to the left though, probably quarter turn at least...

Any yes, all I want to do is get the beep to turn on at about 6500 RPM

Wasn't mentioned before, but the beep doesn't come on at all right now
