Default Second intro..now with STi!

Hey all, I've introduced myself on here before and just wanted to say I finally got my 07 OBP STi! It is not exactly here yet, since it is being shipped from florida. This vehicle was a good find with almost all factory options(taking the spt intake off) and only 14 miles on the odo! Already have the Accessport to flash to stage 1 and hopefully get rid of all the jitters the 07's have experienced. Also, I am wondering if there are any other precautions I should take since this is the year with the crappy tune, but hopefully I get lucky since this is a later production vehicle, hoping that SOA has done something to get rid of the bucking and blowing cylinders. Thanks all, I am extremely excited this is one hell of a machine.

Change the motor oil to Castro Syn, and the transmission to motul gear 300. Baby the car big time until you hit the first 1,000 miles. I took it easy on my car for the first 3,000. I have 11,000 now with AP stage one and it runs strong.

i babied first 1k, then like 1k after that i didn't go higher than 5k..... AP stage 1 at about 11k miles, stage 2 at like 12k or so.. close to 13k??? right now, running strong.....

I would leave the tranny and diff alone until its scheduled to change, then upgrade... as for oil, i would use regular dino oil at 300 miles, then 1k.... before switching, get all the gunk and metal and whatever else is in there, out....

i switched to Mobil 1 at 10k, car doesnt burn a drop, due for another change here soon

Good deal, just wondering what it takes to actually blow a cylinder? Just a little worried

its the ringlands that were getting toasted in the 07s. Its because the factory tune had the motors running really lean.... Also, to contribute to issues, there were alot of motors having piston problems because there were bubbles in the casting..... Gabedude had this happen.... if u flash stage 1, and baby the car, you'll be fine.... like i said, i recommend running crap oil for a while until it cleans out the crap.... would also leave diff and everything else alone....

my rule of thumb, leave it until its "scheduled," then upgrade

Alright thanks for the advice, and I was doing some searches and not to be annoying, but is catless ok with a stage 2 setup and getting the 06 STi pill to put in the downpipe or something along those lines? And how bad is the spt intake or how harmful is it with an Accessport?

the pill "can" fix it, i called Cobb directly and talked to Chris, hes like the head technical dude down there i think.... he said that it may or may not fix it.... IMO just buying a catted DP is easier, and smells better.... i would go to the tech section on Cobb's website, they have a tech notice about 07s and catless....
SPT intake needs to be taken off to run Cobb's maps... you can get a KN panel filter though

How does the KN panel filter perform compared to the stock airbox? Because I was thinking of just getting a stock one to be safe.

Just run the stock air box, K&N drop in filter won't really make much of a difference.

Also, I have an accessport and I am wondering if I should wait to put it on after the break in period, or right now with 14 miles on the vehicle. (Only flashing to stage 1).

Don't quote me on this but I think because the vehicle has such a crappy factory tune it would be best to go stage 1 now.

The later production models had the reflash that fixed the bucking and hesitation. My car was built in April 2007 left japan with the SOA reflash and I've never experienced what people have been saying about the 07's. I went Stage 1 @ 6xxx miles and now I'm @ 10,xxx and still running strong without a blown motor. At like 1100 or so miles I took the car to redline and got addicted to boost. I have had 2 track days on this car too so I think your fine. BTW I have a catless turboback waiting to get installed.

Thats awesome, and what are you doing about the catless TBE? Because I believe people with 07's had experienced boost creep and such going catless.
