I would want to know who did the rebuild job on the motor and why, how many miles on the car, not just the motor, is Subaru giving the warranty on the motor? Don't forget, the rest of the car has many more miles, including the drive train, clutch, etc. Personally, I would stay away from this car as there are plenty of other much more legitimate STI's out there and too many question marks regarding this one. Plus $23,500 is way too much to pay for this car, about 5k too much actually! When you make a purchase this expensive, you do not want any nagging doubts lingering in the back of your mind. How can u ever enjoy this car and not worry about its unknown past?
Just say NO!!!

Dude, I don't know how many indications you need. A shady car salesman, a heavily altered car - even if it is back to stock... The car sounds like pure trouble to me. Abused and now slapped back together.

You ask people's opinions based on what you're telling us. To most of us, the whole deal stinks. So we tell you to keep looking, and yet you keep asking us to qualify our reactions. You've already cited our reasons - false ad, shop owner thinks the guy is shady, car has had a blown engine (which could easily mean drag launches and bad mods, which could affect things like the diffs, etc.), and it isn't even whole.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is: do not ask us for our opinion if you have no intention of taking it seriously. If you want the car, buy it. If you want our input, accept it. But don't keep citing suspicious facts about the car and expect us to blow sunshine up your ass about it.

Would I buy that car? Hell. No. I'd run, not walk, to my nearest computer and look for one that didn't have a black cloud following it.

After what I've learned today, I'm done with it. Yes I'm asking for opinions based on new facts, but I've made up my mind now, and I've said forget it. I will keep looking.

Theres no way you should buy that car. Ive been looking for STi's the past year in illinois (live in orland park) and have run accross that one so many times and even before he had the ad of the new engine put in. I finally got my STi and am extremely happy, the reason I'm happy is because I waited for the right one. If your debating whether to buy this car or not, its not the right one for you. When i saw the ad for my car I knew right away and went straight to the dealer. I highly recommend you that you don't get this car tho, its been online for the longest time, autotrader and craigs list i believe and hasnt sold. Thats a pretty good sign for you. I got my 05 with 11300 miles on it for 24800, hes ripping you off extremely bad even with offer of 21500. I'll keep a lookout for some good ones for you.
