Default New STI owner

I'm buying an 05 cgm STI today, one owner, always stock, 40,000 miles adult driven. I'll post pictures up soon. I'm planning on switching to synthetic as soon as I get it, what do you recommend? Synthetic blend for one change then full, or full right away? What brand of oil filters are you running? Has anyone had trouble transferring the warranty through Subaru? Are there any other routine maintenance practices I should get used to following? I have read stickies and I know about the search function so if needed I can check out some answers in the forums. I'm excited and I've become accustomed to the forum over the last few weeks (sometimes to obsession). So far everyone is very helpful and hopefully some day I can contribute some knowledge as well. Thanks in advance,
-Garrett

Welcome! Oil type preference is varied. Some swear by synthetic, others stick to dino. The only consensus is that Mobil 1 is NOT good. Regardless of the sale, I'd have it inspected thoroughly by a dealer and it might not be a bad idea to get a compression test done, JIC. As far as maintenance, follow the recommendations religiously and you should be good to go. Update with pics when you get it and CONGRATS!

Thanks for the advice and the welcome, I just talked to the dealer and was told the powertrain warranty doesn't need to be transfered because it just stays assigned to the vehicle. looks like i don't need to worry about that anymore. ill put up pictures tomorrow hopefully.
