Default 2007 STI with aftermarket intake

Is it safe to run an aftermarket intake with no protune? Iam current using COBB OTS stage two map. I have searched but got no definite answer.

thanks

You'll be fine, but a tune can yield more power. I got 10 whp and about 7 lbs-ft from the APS 65mm CAI when I got retuned.

You can definatly do it. But cobb recomends not using a intake on their maps. It's in bolt letters on their site and the ap. But I have done it before without any problems, just not ideal. You will lose low end, and gain very little top end. But hey, if the sound is worth it to ya. More power to ya!

i wouldn't risk it, i would just spend the money for a protune cause u'll need it anyways and its a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new engine. I have heard a couple 07 blown engine stories and all they said they had was intake w/o protune

I have the SPT intake. I called Cobb 3 times to talk to different people and they said the SPT intake is ok. But not to run anything else like after market without a protune.

anything other than the stock intake box and your going to be more at risk. Why risk your motor over an intake??
