Get yourself an 06 pignose..... just don't mod it and it should run you to 100K just fine.

YES I SAID IT..... DON'T MOD THE STI

General statements: I need a car that can last for 100k, I do about 30k/year. Is the STi a viable option? I drive hard over various terrain (Hwy 17 from Santa Cruz and all around the Bay). I need something fast, fun, reliable, and safe. If I get an STi I would expect to take it to the track for very mild fun maybe 1 or 2 times a year. I am hoping the power is good enough so that I do not need to modify. I need this for DD status so mods or track time can not compromise reliability. I love everything I see about the STi. I think roadnoise and comfort are the 2 biggest drawbacks. Anyone else posting high miles in an STi?

I have found a 2007 STi with 11k miles. After doing a bit of research here it seems there might be issues with this year. What do you think about this car for my intended use? Are there mandatory mods (like fuel pump and EM) for this car for reliability? If yes, do they inerfere with warranty? It seems that most people do not get extended warranties as they are worthless on the car with mods - would you get an extended warranty in this case?

Are there recommended dealers and Pro Shops in the SF Bay Area?

Thanks for entertaining my questions!

That's kind of vague, but it sounds like your diffs at work. As a matter of fact, the owner's manual tells you it's going to make that noise. Welcome to AWD.

About to hit 24k on my 07, runs perfectly fine. Went stage one at about 1500 miles, stage 2 at about 4000 miles, pro-tuned at about 6000 miles...

Definitely makes my long commute to and from work every day that much more enjoyable

10k on my STI 07 , no problem and run fast than stock.

These is my MOD:

Cobb AP v2.
APS 65mm
DW 650cc Injectors
Warlbro 255lph Fuel Pump
HKS Hi-power Exhaust
Invidia V3 Catted DP
Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller

I used Motul 8100 5w30 for my oil not the Mobile 1.
Neetronics protune my STI 07 and no problem.
290 horse power
295 torque

I closed the deal yesterday, pics to follow soon.

After spending some time in it I have to say I am surprised by the torque. The power on boost is impressive, I knew that. I was surprised by the ability to roll through mountain roads with fewer shifts than I expected.

I look like this

Very nice! congrads on your purschase. I am glad too hear that it all worked out, and you got what you wanted. I would invest in a Cobb AP and due a stage 1 flash, or some kind of pro tune. Enjoy the ride
