Default New sti w/ problems :(

i just got my 06 blue sti today and it seems to already have some problems. I hope you guys can answer some questions for me. When turning in tight circles, or sometimes in reverse the car shakes, and it feels like the wheels are rubbing, but iknow thats not the case because it is bone stock. It feels like a problem w/ the awd. Can anybody help me out?? Also i stalled the car once (yes im a noob) and ever since then the check engine light has been on and its yellow. Along with this the cruise light is also flashing, and i cant seem to get it to turn off. Other than that, I love the car, but im just a little worried considering i just got it. It only has 26,000 miles and shouldnt be having these kinds of problems.

take it to your dealer and have them check your speed sensors and dccd sensor (i think) , my car did the same thing and took it in and they told me one of my speed sensors on one of my wheels was loose, and there was another sensor ( i dont remember the name) that they cleaned and the car has been fine since, and it was only in tight circles and turning like you describe

Try to disconnect the battery. Also you should buy a AP for the car. When you make tight turns do you have the center diff locked? If so go to auto. Also search the forums!!!! Lots of info their and if you get nothing take the car to a dealer and make sure it is stock!

are you sure it's stock? Go to autozone and have them pull the engine code

Sorry, Can you try this same thing just with the DCCD set to fully open, it should be either non existent or very minor. I believe what happens is the DCCD locks and your front wheels travel more than the rears so it gets that slowing you down grinding effect. I had this with my 07. Im pretty sure the 08 does the same.

In regards to the engine light, thats a whole diff story. Buy an AP or take it to auto zone to pull the code.

will the AP turn off the light, because my worry is something actually might be wrong, and I wouldn't want to ignore that. For the grinding Where exactly should I set the DCCD

set it to auto, any other setting is for other conditions. search on here, i started a thread awhile ago about what DCCD settings are good for.

as for the CEL, i would have to agree with the others, either get a AP,dealer, OR auto zone.

good luck!!

not sure about the CEL, the but shudder in tight turns is normal.

about your DCCD, i leave mind in auto 99.9% of the time. When i'm in deep snow i set it to lock (all the way forward). I haven't really played with the open settings yet.

I'm pretty sure if you just let me drive it, the problem will be fixed.

26,000 miles = under warranty

Take it in. Have them fix it. Enjoy.

Wow amazing nobody said this yet (or i missed it) but the shuddering while taking tight turns is normal. The next time you make a tight turn give your e-brake a little lift (not much I don't even go as far as to get it to click), this will allow the diffs to spin freely and you won't hear or feel the binding.

i had the same problem w/ the check engine and cruise control lights. I went in through the OBDII port - the trouble code said there is a problem at the airflow sensor. It turned out to be that the plug on the stock BOV hose had fallen out. I reinstalled the plug and disconnected/connected the battery. No problems since.
