| Lurker | I am looking at a 2004 STI with asking price of $24k and 40k miles. I am looking for a second opinion on whether this is a fair price given the mods from someone more familiar with these cars than myself. I think the parts used are quality. Book value is 19000 do you think this is a fair deal? What is a decent price given the rest of the car is in excellent condition? Thanks in advance for your help. Here are the mods: Engine: Greddy Turbo Upgrade Kit 20G ECUTek Tuning Perin Fuel System kit Power Enterprises Fuel Injectors 850cc HKS Grounding Kit TurboXS Boost Control Kit Blitz Dual DCIV Turbo Timer Intake/Exhaust: Injen Cold Air Intake GT SPEC-II Header Injen Up-pipe TurboXS Downpipe TurboXS Catless race-pipe HKS Carbon-ti Exhaust Suspension: Cusco Front OS Strut Bar Perrin Front Sway Bar Cusco Rear Adjustable Sway Bar Tanabe lowing springs GF210 Hawk HPS Brakes This ad is not endorsed by this member. Thats a good one. I just love it when people say a car has "never raced" and then string off a long list of mods. They must think that the world is full of suckers. Nobody puts performance mods on a car so they can drive it around like a little ol' lady. Unfortunately I am overseas and and there aren't alot of US spec cars to choose from. Another car I was looking at was a stock 2005 SRT4 with about 40k miles for $13,000. Torque steer could be a safety issue on an SRT4. I also found a nice Japanese Spec Honda Integra Type-R for $6,000. But I don't really want to put money into a car that I never really have much hope of ever taking with me if I return to the U.S. The last car I had was a used 1978 280z that I kept for 15 years. If it was my choice, I would still be driving that car today. I'm looking for a car that I can keep for the long haul. | |

Find an unmodded car. That is your very best bet.

no plans to sell. When the paint is bad I'll have it painted and when the engine fails It will give me a reason to build it stronger and faster. 11 sec times should make me a happy camper. My backup plan if I can't find a good used car is just to buy a new BMW 135i. I just think it wastes money to buy a new car and am trying to avoid that.
