Smile *ahem*

Hello.

Been admiring STis for some time and watch Rally on Speed with much curiosity. It has come time for me to venture that way.

I have a 04 Powerstroke diesel and the fuel cost anymore is just ridiculous, compounded by the fact i'll be taking a job that will be at home, so I can get a toy that'll sit during the week and driven on the weekend (wife's SUV can pull the bike trailer anyways).

While I'm doing the same research i did when I was looking for a diesel, this site has a lot of resources and good positive and negative information and opinions. For a person starting at the beginning when it comes to an STi, not to mention a Subaru, it's quite refreshing. Much appreciated.

The only real complaint i have is the dealership experience thus far. I roll in with a 40k truck, car seats, etc yet get told that "we don't let kids just jump in these things and drive them". I think the word "kid" was used about 5 times before i stopped him to tell him i respect why they don't let people test drive them. Felt like I had to justify to them why i was there and that i wasn't wanting to joy ride one of the cars. Much thanks to this site, i was able to ask questions that i think showed the dude that i was serious and capable. After that it seemed like it went 'okay'. Typical dealer thing, i guess.

Either way, hope to be an owner here shortly after I finish affirming my desires.

Thanks!

screw that dealership, I was 19 when I went to test drive mine and they didnt even bat an eye. Not sure where you are but Santa Monica Subaru treated me with the utmost respect and got me a screaming deal on an 07.
Good luck with the STI though, ive never loved a car more!

Hello! I remember my first experience with a Subaru dealership. This was WAY before I bought my 07. A friend was looking into buying an STi. We roll up in an Infiniti SUV (trade-in), and the salesman said we couldn't take one for a test drive. He said you can have a test drive once you buy it. What an A$$hat. Fast forward a few years...it's my turn. I went back to that dealership because it was the closest one. This time I wanted an STI, but wanted to test drive it first. No problem. The salesman (diff one) said he didn't care if I drove it...it wasn't his car, lol. It was also the end of the year, and they probably needed to get rid of the 07s. So I bought the car. Once the "newness" wears off I'm sure you can get a test drive. There are some guys on here that got a test drive in an Evo X and STI. Not all dealerships are horrible, and not are all that great either. Good luck with everything!

Northeast Denver (in the country).

I've gone to the Boulder dealer and the Thornton dealer. debating talking to south Denver dealers and see if this is the way it is in this area or not.

It's interesting you say that, I've debated driving my wife's Land Rover there and see what happens.

have you called several dealerships? thats a great way to drive the price down, get a quote from one, and call another to ask if they can beat it, continue that until nobody will or can. This brings out little bidding wars

Welcome! Stupid dealers. They should have an idea that kids today have much more financial backing than 20 years ago. Sorry to haer about your experience. Idiots.

Good luck in the search!

Well a north Denver dealer appears to be anxious to better the other two dealers I've been to. As a family man, it'd be moronic to buy a vehicle at this cost without doing due diligence with the toddler, infant and wife. Buying the diesel was a 4 month process.

We'll get there . . . I'll get over my annoyance sooner than later.
