Default 07sti... new to this model, not to subys

So I have researched quite a bit on this site as well as nasioc. Now I have a few questions. I have read about the fuel issues concerning the 07 sti, and I am wondering what should be the first step to remedy this. I could:

A: Buy fuel pump
2: Buy bigger Injectors
or D: Get a tactrix cable and tune through gabedude

I'm leaning toward getting a cable, but I have concerns with using the romraider software. I have a general idea of tuning but I am very weary about flashing the ECU. I know with any of the options above, I will need a tune. I have a tuner in mind, but he is a 6 hour drive away. He also doesn't have a problem sending maps through emails which leads me back to being weary about reflashing. Like I said in the title to this post, I'm an 07sti newb, but not a newb when concerning Subaru. I guess i just don't want this expensive ass car to blow up on me. What should I do IWSTI?

As another 07 owner, I had the same concerns. I wanted to address the problem but not at the expense of my ECU. Since I have NO experience with tuning, I went the route of the Cob AP. For me, it has all but resolved the issues, especially with the release of 1.04.

IMHO I'd be skeptical about tuning via email/web for mods other than a catback or panel filter. When I go the route of a fuel pump/injectors, I'll have it done at a shop, but at 6 hours away, I can see your concern.

I've heard good things about Gabe's maps, but can't comment more than that because I did not go that route. Personally, I'd do the following: 1. Get the SOA relfash (if you don't have it already) and see if it fixes the issues. 2. Get the AP. 3. Play around with tuning (since you have experience) and at least you can always go back to the AP map. 4. Forgo self-tuning, develop your mod plan and schedule an appointment to get tuned once your mods are complete so you don't have to go back for each little component.

I blew mine up at 6,000 miles. After it was rebuilt, and broken in; I added APS tbe, DeatschWerks 650s, a walboro, and got it tuned. Now I dont worry about it.

A, 2, or D? lol...well i agree with above posts in going the ap approach...then when your ready for a pro-tune, you will need that fuel pump

Yeah the AP route is always an option but, I'd rather not use cobb tuning when I can get the same amount of support and tuning with something that costs less then a few hundred vs. $695. Plus with an AP you'd still need a protune to get the max and most effiecient power. I have talked to my tuner who is also a protuner, he suggested using the tactrix cable. I have gotten the latest flash from SOA and I have a turboXS downpipe waiting.... I just need to know what I should get first.
I think I'm just gonna get the tactrix cable and download the free gabedude stage 2 map. I'll start logging and use the support on the OSECu forums. I just need to keep an eye on those logs I guess. Thanks for your help IWSTI, but i think I know the route i need to go.

is basically just comes down to peace of mind...I know that when I spend 30k on a car I will have no problem spending $695 on something that I know work perfectly...just my opinion...

perfectly? I know that the AP works well for most, but i would not say perfectly. On my 04WRX I had an AP. I was running the VF39 map with bigger injectors(while meeting ALL of the map notes), with a protune I gained quite a bit of power and cured a rich fuel issue from the cobb OTS map. So to say that the AP works perfectly is a bit of a strech for me. Like I said in the post title, 07sti newb, but not new to Subaru's. You might think it works perfectly and maybe it does with your car, but I have experiance to believe otherwise.

well you are always going to gain power with a protune that's a given. Your wrx didnt run 100% because you went beyond the stage 2 map...even the the AP has maps for other turbo's once you up the turbo a protune is necessary...but for the base stage 2 map I would definitely say it runs perfectly...

Since u know a reputable tuner, i would install the DP and have a custom tune done w the DP. That's exactly the route I took myself and picked up 50 whp.
However, I have an 05, but that shouldn't really matter. Good luck and enjoy your new ride. No need for fp and injects as yet.

Yeah ummm.... I wasn't running the stage two map. I was running the VF39map with bigger injectors. I met all of the map notes/requirements. But that doesn't matter, the AP was just base maps until i got to a tuner. Now I know i can get the same thing with a cable. a $91 cable at that. What i'm saying here is I'm going to buy the cable, get the free base map, and drive down to my tuner for a protune. Like I said, I'm not a newb when it comes to suby. Also, a few other where there for a stage two protune and had made quite a bit more power then with the OTS cobb maps. So, AP maps are not perfect buddy. Sorry if I'm sounding like a dick, but you need to read your replies and the original post before putting advice down.
This thread was to ask with upgrade I should get, not to educate me on the Greatness of the Cobb accessport.
