| Lurker | Hey im pretty new to the Sti family and was wondering what some of the better and best performance upgrades are. I'm hearing alot of different things so if anyone can give me some advice on exhaust, FM intercooler, intake, BOV, etc. that would be great. the more input the better thanks. This subject has been covered MANY times. Most of it, especially exhausts, are subjective. Please use the search function, and read the stickies at the top of every forum. For example: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/engine-p...-stickies.html Last edited by La Mer; 12-21-2007 at 11:04 AM. | |

Basically, save your money for a good exhaust-full TBE and engine management. Cobb AP or something similar. Then either go for a tune, you start buying all your parts, then tune the car. Many parts you cant even install on the STI until you are ready for a tune. ...and yes, search is your friend.

You would only want to change your BOV if your tuner tells you that you need to. Ever ! Good Luck, and welcome aboard ! And Merry Christmas ! Okey

To get the full potential out of your intake, you are better off getting a tune for it. Otherwise you just spend $200+ for a new intake and gained about 2-3hp. IMO $200 is not worth it for 2-3hp, but it is worth it to me with some other parts. In my case intake/TBE/headers/solenoid/AP/tune. Harmon Automotive just did a test and tuned for an intake and had some pretty decent gains, but only after the tune.

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2007 Trader Rating: (3) | I went from 255 WHP to 290 WHP with a 3" turbo-back exhaust and AccessPort stage 2 93 octane ots map. Later mods included cross-pipe and up-pipe, turbo inlet and lightweight crank pulley. After a custom tune I'm now at 320WHP and loving it! |

| Iron Fisted | Performance wise, IMO first mod should be either stage one or stage two. Please, do not even think about getting a bov.... Only get an intake if you are getting a protune. If you are just flashing stage two, and still want the "woosh" sound, removing the intake silencer - there is a how-to somewhere on here about that. Good luck and welcome to the forums |
