Default Trunk Rattle

ok my friend has a 03 bugeye. he has a 05 sti trunk. he had the trunk on since jan/feb.. we noticing the trunk arm on the passanger side is making alot of noise. im just wondering if it possible to get to fix it. is it bolted down? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe wd-40 as a first try. Then tighten down all the surrounding bolts. I found my PITA trunk clunk today finnaly. Took a while but happy I found it. Good luck!

yeah we try that already. we thinking its coming from under the rear deck, but its a ***** to get off. `


im wondering if the trunk arms bolts down and getting loose..

I really doubt it comming from under the lid. Theres no room for anything to go.

For my clunk(metal on metal noise), it was the latch assembly. I had taken out the plastic trim piece right at the bumper, that surrounds the latch hook. It started letting the trunk move up and down because the rubber stoppers didnet touch the plastic piece anymore. Maybe thats you're problem as well. Hope that helps!

we did that to.. if you grab the trunk arm it starts clunk.. do you think it has to do with the tension rod? since he never changed it for a sti version..

Possibly.. The only way to REALLY tell if it's the trunk, is just take it off and go around the block. Then you'll know if the trunk has anything to do with it..

did that.. the trunk arm still made the noise just less..
