yeah, did it myself. not hard at all. time consuming b/c you are crapping your pants about cutting. the biggest part of doing this is being intimidated to cut your roof lol.

i pretty much followed this DIY:

Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Projects / Installing a Spec C Roof Vent

but, i did NOT drill out my map light bracket. you leave that in, and the frame for the vent actually lines up with two of the map light holes to make it easier to center/better reinforcement.

ill get some inside pics tomorrow, gotta go to bed for work

Haha, yeah my hands would have been shaking for the initial cut. Good job man. Looks great. Whenever I see that vent, I remember when Solberg had a bird fly in the vent right before a stage end and his co driver smashed it with his foot.

Call me morbid, but I would love to see a video of that.

I highly doubt it. Its a very minimal piece that's cut out that doesn't go near the support braces for the hood or require you to remove em.

That doesn't look as hard as it looks time consuming... i would still be a little apprehensive doing it, but hey.... if u screw it up, order a carbon fiber roof lol....

I tried to find a vid somewhere but couldn't. It was back in 04 or 05 I believe. The bird, about the size of a Sparrow, came through the Roof vent while the car was doing about 60mph around a tight turn in the woods. Codriver looked up to see the bird trying to hover right above his left shoulder and smacked it down to the floor with his pace note book and stepped on it. 20-30 seconds later the stage was over and speed channel played the inboard video of their conversation. Petter never even saw it. Codriver said laughing " I don't know what you would have done if you saw it". Solberg was like " what bird?" Codriver lifted up his foot and showed him. LOL Quote by Codriver " How about that bird Petter". Petter " Yeah...huh? What bird?"
There were feathers floating around the car and Petter never even noticed and Mills never skipped a beat. Classic
