Should I do the doors and Spec C glass at the same time to save on labor?

I'm wondering if I should buy an extra set of "door guts" so that I can bolt and unbolt the stock and CF doors as an assembly as needed.

I'm also thinking of doing that CF roof with a bud of mine. We want to order 2 to save on shipping and labour possibly. I figure the roof and glass all should be done at once (at least the front and rear glass)... door glass can be done later.
I'm not sure how safe the carbon doors are. Another option would be to gut a second set of stock doors with a dremel? heh?

L'aunsport CF roof actually adds weight as it is just a cover. I think there is only one company that currently makes the CF roof.

For doors, I know Seibon makes them. Can somebody confirm if L'ausport makes them as well?

Both of you are right. The Subaru doors are actually much lighter than my 92 Civic doors. In fact, the Subaru engineers did a great job in making everything as light as possible. It's amazing how cars keep getting heavier and heavier despite these weight saving measures. All the weight must be in the frame of the car for safety.

I was reading the GDB Impreza parts bible ,

and saw these items, I think it relates to the OP.

That is a front windshield for the GDB, it claims to be 80% lighter than OEM.

This is a resin window for both driver and passenger sides. They also have for the rear windows.

This is a full dry carbon fiber rear door.

Hope these items inspire you to lose more weight.

And if your serious about aquiring these items I can put you in touch with the right people here in Japan.

BTW, This book LITERALLY has every single part ever made for the GDB out of Japan. I always fnd new stuff every time I read it.
I highly recommend it to others if you are able to get a copy.

i had to cut my seibon cf trunk lid in half and send them pics of the carnage to avoid sending the pos back. i lost 200. in shipping. it was warped, the fit was terrible and the company isn't worth a szhit to deal with when something is wrong. i will never buy anything else from seibon.

i'm pretty sure the element sti has the seibon doors. they looked ok on phil's car but i'd never risk dealing with them myself.

That's what I was afraid of... which is why I got the OEM Alum trunk... it fits perfectly... I am willing to give Seibon a chance on their doors if I can get feedback from people who have actually bought and installed them... so if you've got these doors on your car, please let me know!

To utter such words is blasphemy in Anorexic's world. His sole purpose in life is for his STi to lose weight.

Why yes it is... except for the 2 stickers on the side doors... I think I can cut my car some slack on a couple 1g stickers

Oh, I still have the pink STI in the grille too... but I haven't decided what I want to do with the grille... I might be going reverse manifold and custom FMIC piping and radiator.

I've got a lightweight alternator and starter in the works as well.

not to rain on your parade..., but you are saying that rear seats, wheels, and a window weigh 350 lbs? If you were to remove all 4 wheels, and put nothing back on (4x45) you would be up to 180 lbs... that leaves another 170 for a piece of glass and a rear seat that prob doesnt weigh more than 20 lbs. I dont think the rear window weighs 150 lbs.
