Default answer this for me (headlight issue)

i am having an issue with my headlights...one of them will get dim and the high beam light on the dash will come on real dim when it happens...when u pound on the dim headlight a time or two it brightens up and the light on the dash goes out....is that a problem with the 97 impreza or is it just cuz my car is old and has 236,000 miles on it?

I would try charging the battery and or buying a new one. Sounds like a power issue.

Check the headlight harness. If pounding on the thing fixes the problem, I don't think it's a power supply issue. You might also check and see if there's any water in the unit.

sounds like a bad ground to me, so check the harness connecting to the bulb for any poo on it and following any grounds around the area.
