Noise at 95 mph?!

Hey, I would love to hear if anyone else has experienced a high pitch whirl noise at approx 95 mph in their 07 body style STI. I have the big wing and the roof one too. I think it might be the right mirror. Thank you for your time! ~Neil

I have a similar problem. When did you get your sti? How long has it happened because I think the sound mine is making is not engine related at all but I would say its a humming .. Think we have the same problem? I have had this problem ever since I bought the car.

It happens when I go >90/95 mph

Same thing but i notice it more at 120 and up. I read that it was from wind against the mirrors and wing and its nothing to worry about.

same, mine is around 100mph, but it comes from the rear window of the car

I don't think mines from the back of the car. more like the passenger front right area.

its a combo of the wings and mirrors. the mirrors are usually the most noticeable but air hitting that wing at 100 plus miles an hour is also bound to make noise. Its nothing to worry about. I am 99% sure you would hear a window leak or faulty piece at a much lower speed than this.

IS there a fix? Not sure how to approach a dealer with, "at 100 the mirror makes a noise". Thank you for your help.

There is no fix. Our cars, by nature, are not aerodynamic. This means that there is bound to be some sort of wind noise as speeds increase.
It is just something that we have to learn to live with...

I suppose you could buy aftermarket mirrors and take off the roof vane spoiler but it seems like a ridiculous problem to worry about. I only see those speeds at a track or once in a while spirit driving and now that i know they aren't an actual problem and are just wind it doesn't bother me. Id just get used to it and I hope your not driving at plus 100 everyday lol.

yeah it's the damn mirrors.

No actually it's the wind screaming trying to catch you

, when I think of it that way, it no longer bothers me.

I only get it at 100+ or at relative wind speed when windy.

Dido on the mirrors....120 on they make noise. I guess not all parts of the Impreza are made for 150+ mph speeds!!! =)
