Unhappy Re: Cylinder 4 misfire?

I guess I'm next.
I noticed the car vibrating more on idle and minute later cruise started blinking along with Check Engine. P0304. :-( I drove it back to the house like a granny and everything seemed fine unless I stopped. My dealership is 150miles away. Is it safe enough to drive to them if I drive extra gentle? I don't want to spend any money on something that might turn out to be unnecesarry because I will have to take it to them anyway.
My car is BONE stock. 07 of course.
I didn't notice any extra smoke from the tailpipe but after reading this thread I cranked it up to check oil level and it was low and smoke was coming from underneath the oil cap. Not really big but kinda like you leave cigarette burning.

Oh men...

15k miles on it.
On idle engine rocks back and forth in the bay.

This is the smoke coming out from my oil cap. Is this definitely mean that one rings are busted on a cylinder? Oil is hot. Maybe this is normal?
Video was taken right after killing the engin after it's been idling for 3 minutes.
Totally no smoke out of exhaust.

That's definately too much smoke. I didn't notice any when I did the exact same test a week ago. With the engine running, you can notice a puff or two every now and then in sunlight. I would get a compression test first.

Since I've got like 150 miles to my dealer, I will be doing compression test today replaing spark plugs at the same time and checking all connections to rule out something simple.
Will let you know how it went.

A little smoke coming out of the tube with the motor off doesn't tell you a thing. Take another video, this time with the car running at idle - have a friend rev the motor to 2K and hold it there. If a ringland is busted, it'll push a lot of smoke and pressure - if everything is OK, there will be a slight vacuum, with zero smoke.

I will do that right after work. Appreciate the input.
Will correct compression test definitelly eliminate possible ringland/piston damage?

Absofrgigginlutely - that's why it is usually the first step in diagnosing a misfire problem. However, the smoke/puff oil tube test will tell you if you have a piston that isn't sealing properly, provided the breather system is nominal.

Default Rip: Infamous Cylinder #4 misfire - low on compression. :(

I don't need to check nothing no more. My jug #4 is officially low on compression.

Pass | Driv
135 45
142 130

Front Clip

BTW: They should've hang Moore before he wrote his laws. The infamous Cyl #4 is pain in the A to get to. I have shop service manual for 06 STi and it says about removing battery and windshield asher reservoir. Well in 07s above mentioned tank is at the front clip so taking it out won't help. It's soo hard to take the coil pack out because there is VERY little space between the engine block and the frame. You have to use the fact that coil pack's tube is made of rubber and need to make it;s way out forcing it a little.

I just got my 06 back with a new stock short block and heads after a constant P0304 and low compression in that jug (32kmi under warranty).

Took the dealership 2.5 months to rebuild the motor. I don't think thats what you wanted to hear but thats the reality. BTW I took that loaner and beat the living crap out of it every single day out of anger.

2 and a half months? Boy, did they put you on the back burner or what? That's a 1 day job for 2 good mechanics.

If that had been me, the loaner would've come back in chunks.
