Default Worth the Hassle? TMIC to FMIC

So I'm planning on a turbo upgrade and here are the mods that I'll have once the parts are in (on an '04 STi)

-Helix RR500 turbo (approx. 20g-sized)
-eBay large TMIC
-TurboXS TBE
-Injen CAI
-Deautschwerks 740cc injectors
-Walbro pump
-StaticX Turbo Wrap
-UTEC

Before I take this down to get tuned, is it worth the trouble to get a FMIC? To do this, I'd have to get rid of my CAI, sell my 2 month old TMIC (I wasn't planning on doing the turbo upgrade when I bought this), spend $$$ on a FMIC, cut my bumper up, etc. etc.

I'm from PA and temps don't get extremely hot and with the turbo wrap, I think I would be okay.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it or not?

well, i think everyone recommends a FMIC with a larger turbo but i am not familiar with the size of that helix so i could not tell you. i would suggest the FMIC from just what everyone has told me about a gt35r soo.... it is up to you but i'm sure you will get your answer shortly. good luck!

That is about a 20g sized turbo so you don't need a FMIC it should help gains a little, but from the tone of your post you don't really want to, I say keep the TMIC. Just try and thermally isolate your turbo and IC.

Yes the FMIC is worth it with a big turbo, if you can afford a good fmic setup, you should get it.

I'm not familiar with that turbo, but if it really is the equiv. of a 20g, then just stay with the TMIC and add meth injection - it really helps cool the charge. But if it is anything relatively bigger than a 20g, go FMIC.

the helix RR500 that he is refering to is a 46 Lb compressor, most 20g are around 44 lb and the FP green is 49 lb.

After seeing this thread, my interest in a FMIC has dropped slightly

I know on the Dyno my big TMIC could not handle my FP Green at the upper end (on 4th gear pulls, high load), had to switch to FMIC to get the power I wanted.

i would stick with the tmic. you might leave a little on the table, but you'll save over $1k and won't have to deal with the hassles of installing a fmic.

What was the difference in power from big TMIC to FMIC?
