Default Sti Aftermarket oil Cooler

I need some expert opinion here.

I found some nice sti oil coolers on ebay and was wondering is this something an STI needs. Granted im getting ready for cobb stage 2 with new dp and accessport, fuel pump.
already have catback exhaust and INJEN CAI

Any thoughts??

unless you are going to road race hardcore, you do not need an oil cooler.

You can fix that by using a thermostat with your oil cooler.

520 hp sti. When you say Hardcore what do you mean??
Im eventually looking to get my car to the point of weekend beast. Not daily driver, Perhaps auto-x and things of that nature. I would like to be in the 400 hp club at the wheels. SO then is it something that I will need then? Are you running yours with one?

If you track the car alot i can see why you would want it.

What i would do is go stage II, and get some gauges to measure you'll oil temp at the track. If it is getting high, get the oil cooler.

in 100 degree heat, I would see 210 in stop and go traffic. My normal oil temp is around 190-195 Mobil 10w-30 and stock thermostat.

in normal chicago summer (75-90degrees...95 according to my car temp gauge) my oil ranges from 220ish just taking it easy and crusing, to over 240 (240-250) with the ac on......seriously why is my oil this hot?

do i really badly need an oil cooler?

MK

i often see 90 to 100F in my gauges too here in the Philippines during day time. in traffic i see around 200 to 220F oil temp, at cruising it drops from around 210F. I don't have oil cooler, I just use Amsoil SAE60. I know it's not in our sti manual but it's always hot here all year round so I guess it's better for my car to use that oil.

you can try changing to higher weight oil first during summer and check the oil temp if it will go down before buying an oil cooler

I just looked at the 1st page of your journal, I might have missed it but I didn't see an upgrade with the radiator. just in case you're using stock radiator now, maybe it's time to upgrade it.

our oil cools our engine too so I'm guessing if you have more cooling power with upgraded radiator, it might lower your oil temp. i'm not sure about that, it's just a guess
