Default Re: Blouch Turbo VF39 turbine with 18g or 20g compressor ? anyone tried yet ?

There is a lot of info on nazioc about this. Deadbolt offers this service also. I WAS considering this for the wifes forester. As stated it is about halfway between the vf and the real deal. My take on it is that you can sell your vf and take that money and purchase the real 18 or 20. The vf housing definitely compromises this setup. You end up losing out on the mid range and top end power thats available on the 20g. But you will get better spool than a standard 20g. If you are very tight on money though and you have access to a vf39 it might be viable.

If I did the upgrade would my car still run fine on my current protune before injectors were installed? Or would I need a new protune right off the bat?

If you put the upgraded turbo on without a retune just dont hit boost till you get one.

Add bigger injectors at the same time as the tune.

I ran a vf39 with a gm diesel coldside wheel and upgraded to DW740 with a new tune and it needed it.

before the turbo upgrade I ran to 24 lbs with meth tapering to 16.5lbs at redline with the upgrade 24lbs tapering to 18.5 at redline.

was good for about 20 whp increase, it was enough to feel the difference.
