Same here with the oils I've tried

Mobil 1 10w30 (MAJOR oil consumption - 1 qt per 250 miles)
Mobil 1 5w30 (oil consumption Used this before, consumption was there but I wasn't monitoring it)
Castrol GTX 5w30 (oil consumption 1 qt per 250 miles or so)
Valvoline 5w30 (less consumption but still there, ~1 qt per 500 miles)

Currently using Motul 8100 5w30. Looks like it's gotten me to about 1qt in the 1k miles I have on it so far but it also has slowed down considerably. Still a bit early to tell but so far so good. I might move to a 5w40 for my next change.

If you go to their website you can find a local dealer. I would XXTuning in CT if you are looking to buy Amsoil. I got awesome pricing on the Series 2000 Amsoil 0W-30. I am experiencing oil consumption. I will get an oil analysis at my next oil change and try the Series 2000 5W-30. If that burns I will be switching to another lubricant.

I feel obligated to chime in:
I have been running Mobile 1 for over 45k miles w/zero track days on a stock STi. All oil changes were performed at 5k miles; I have burned ONE (1) quart since I purchased the car. I check my oil level at every fuel stop and monitor all parameters of the vehical, with an ongoing paper log.
The one quart of oil burned occured last summer after a a tank of spirited driving.
I believe there is a direct correlation between driving habits (temperature) and oil consumption.

I'll check there tomorrow. I was near a Super Walmart tonight so I stopped in and looked for it, but all they had was the USA Castrol Syntec.

I found it at a local 'race shop' here in Tucson. I'm sure that some of the more specialty places near you may carry it.......I ended up at a primarily Honda / Evo shop....got funny looks when I pulled up, but a sale is a sale.

I am running the AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 and so far no issues.....According to the shop I bought it from...and the AMSOIL web site, that is the recommended viscosity if your car typically uses 5W30.

I think a 20 weight will be WAY too thin for our car. Feel free to try it but keep a close eye on your dipstick to check for consumption. With an oil that thin I think you'll be seeing a lot of consumption. I would stick with a 30 weight or thicker.

I think our cars run better on rather thicker oil. I'm going to try 5W40 for next oil change... 0W20 is way too thin.

One thing I noticed at Autozone, is that Castrol now has several "European formulas," a few of which are marketed towards specific German brands. However, inspection of the back label reveals that some of these European Blend formulas are made in Germany, while others are made in the USA.

Anyone know if the European forumula made in Germany or made in the USA are the same, or at least perform the same?

by far the best oil ive used so far is torco SR-5. Nothing burned after 1500 miles...i was burning mobil 1 & RP. I went with the SR-5 because its specified for high boost/moddified engines. I also went with it in 5w40....maybe the thicker the better for the burn off. Its pricey though..12 bux a quart..but 30 extra bucks for peace of mind on my baby is worth it...esp after 12k in mods
