Default Anyone running a big TMIC on a Stage 2 STi?

I have searched around here, around nasioc, and around clubwrx.net and I cant find any dyno sheets or advice from people that have added a big TMIC to there STi with a Turboback. I have read the big TMIC thread and SOG said a guy dropped a few tenths off his 1/4 mile from one. Im looking to put the APS one on for a stock look and good fitment. Anyone know of power gains with just a Turbo back exhaust and tuning (stage 2 pretty much)? Im not looking for advice on other power adders really just a new TMIC. Thanks

You need to get a custom tune. A TMIC any bigger than stock really throws things off if you're running a base stage not intended for a certain mod. St2 is supposed to be for TBE only. ONLY! Why? Boost in particular along with timing need to be reconfigured. I ran a bigger TMIC on my old bugeye and had problems until I got new map. I tried what you are asking. It was faster, but the TMIC affected how car hit boost. How much and how long. Not a good thing.

Well I'm actually going to get tuned. But what I meant is an STi with a Turboback and tuned plus the Big TMIC. What are these guys gaining out of the TMIC. I totally understand the maps and what it requires to run them and what not to put.

I ran an APS SR375 Tmic for a while. From my experience the APS unit flows much better than the stock unit. It is a bar and plate core so it should flow much better. If you combined this TMIC with some meth/water injection you would have a good platform for some insane torque.

I have recently taken mine off in anticipation of getting a FMIC so if you are interested let me know as I will be looking to sell it.

If you are just wondering what gains when properly tuned, you Should see 20whp easy. Little, little lag on the STi . Nothing like a front mount. But gains are very good w/ a large tmic. Problem is heat soak and future turbo limitations. Have been in 2 STi's w/ Spearco tmic's /vf39 and insane hit of torque.

I'd be interested in that too, let me know when you're selling it.

Are you using the stock turbo still? Keeping a FM combined with something like a FP2006 has been crossing my mind lately...

Start skimming thru the Dyno Database sticky Dyno Database - Enter your numbers here! and look at item #10 of each post which is the TMIC or FMIC. I only looked at the first page but found:

1. 2004
2. 245WHP 93 octane
3. 253WTQ
4. 320WHP 93 octane
5. 360WTQ
6. CAI w/ Perrin turbo intake tube
7. Random Tech. catted 3"
8. Random Tech. 3"
9. ECUTEK
10. Turbo XS TMIC
11. SS @ SOG
12. Dynopack
13. Gwinnett, GA
14. Perrin EBCS, AVO auto. water sprayer, Turbo Smart Dual port BOV,Walbro 255
Latest 1/4 mile time was 12.465 @ 107.6
And a best MPH of 109 w/ a 12.7@109.01

I know that the bigger TMIC is a good way to go and the el cheapo ebay versions have been popular.....even on cars being raced in autox. I plan to slap one on right before I get tuned.....

Thanks Karl, I have looked through that thread a few times. I guess Ill just go through and find all of them to see if there is any results. The reason I started this thread though was to see if anyone had there Stage 2 tuned then put on a TMIC and had it retuned. I was just looking for gains with it. But Im going to look through that thread..

I know Scooby South posted in there with the stock TMIC and came back later and tuned with an e-bay special and got more HP & Torque.

I'm running the APS SR375 TMIC as well, but on a 20G setup.

It has proved to be efficient when properly cooled, and is definitely an upgrade from the stock unit.
