Default Ebay Headers...

Any thoughts on these?

The welds and quality doesn't look bad, but looks can be deceiving.

Im a firm believer that you get what you pay for. Looks are quite deceiving and I would wonder if they even fit properly and the quality of the steel???

I **think** these are the same as the MadDad (daddysscp.com) headers that are manufactured by Tomei. If so, it's a good price.

The Gruppe-S headers aren't much more expensive and I have been happy with mine. Lots more torque than without headers on my protune.

I can gaurantee you they are not manufactured by the factory that makes the TOMIE header or the MadDad(TM) header. MadDad's manufacturer is well aware of the ebay clones, and they are clones. I can't say anything about their quality or lack thereof because I don't know. If you don't want to take a chance on quality/warrantee/fitment/support, you might want to consider getting in on the $449 pre-order for the MadDad Velocity V2 header/uppipe combo. MadDad has made design changes so that it's no longer confused with TOMEI, GT-SPEC, Vibrant and the ebay clones. The new MadDad header/uppipe has a MadDad exclusive 45mm uppipe instead of a 48mm used elsewhere and the MadDad has a prefitted EGT on the manifold on cyl 4 that you won't find elsewhere. I also wonder if the ebay header comes with 5 layer metal gaskets.

Im a fan of ebay parts but headers is one thing i would NOT buy on ebay.. same goes for turbos, boost controllers or any vital parts. Not to mention thats not the easiest install & you dont want to be reverting back to stock in a few weeks when your headers crack.

Headers are an extremely stressed item on a turbo car seeing extreme temperature changes and extremes. A buddy of mine had the welds break on a set of HKS headers and went back to stock ones. I would be hesitant to buy no name headers as no ones reputation is standing behind their quality.

Do the Ebay TMIC, don't do Ebay headers. Headers are fairly prone to cracking even from well known sellers. China clones are a header headache waiting to happen, IMHO...

What he said.

Also, here's a small story. Back when I was into Mustangs and had one, there were longtube headers on the market for the 32v Cobras. They were badged as Mac/BBK (same company) and a lot of people bought them because they had a fairly stable reputation for passable quality exhausts. They've been in the business for decades, so it was a name people grew to somewhat trust. I say somewhat because they had rusting issues on most of their products after a few years, but thats neither here nor there. The problem with these longtubes was that they were scavenging the exhaust too much and causing the motor to suck oil past its rings, eventually leading to a blown shortblock. Now, the STi isn't a 32v motor and these aren't longtubes, but I would be very careful about choosing which header to put on your car...
