Default After Market Radiators

I just wanted to post up that recently I noticed a bunch of black speckles in the clear level tube on the side of my Perrin Radiator Over Flow 'tank'. For those that don't know, this comes with their FMIC kit. When I noticed this I thought that I might have some dredded oil in the coolant from some spent head gaskets. I drained the coolant into a clean pan and didn't find any oil. Rather, after slowly draining the coolant out of the pan I noticed lots of black specs on the bottom of the pan. It turns out these little specs were the 'slag' from the welds in my PWR radiator. I would imagine that PWR and most other radiator companies do a quick flush of their radiators to remove most the impurities. I would also imagine that a number of the impurities and or slag from the welds just need time to work loose, nothing at the factory would get all these out. I showed / explained what I had found to Doug at TopSpeed and he confirmed that he experiances this with many aftermarket radiators and asside from flushing them out, there is little else to do and nothing to worry about.

I am still very happy with the radiator / purchase. Just wanted to share the experaince and let you guys know to do a number of flushes (maybe put a few hundred miles on the car / flush and check and then repeat) after installing a aftermarket radiator.

Thanks Javid, I'll check my PWR radiator for the brazing slag.
