Default Problems with sz55

I have a couple of quick questions

Deadbolt is on the second rebuild with this turbo and i need some help to see whats the deal.

The turbo has yet to work, it will only make 5psi and its not really even boost, because it "drags" to 5psi. The gauge moves but the car doesnt actually go faster.

the first time he tried telling me that we didnt prime the oil right. so he replaced both wheels and the center cartigage. After the rebuild, and installing it comrrectly for the second time, it is still doing the same thing.\

any thoughts

Does it sound like it's spooling strongly but just not making boost or is it not spooling at all? It could possibly be a wastegate issue.

is sounds as though it is spooling, just stuggling. We have even capped off the wastegate to see if it would at least give us a spike and nothing

I had a problem SZ55 that I troubleshooted and got fixed.

Frist, what WGA spring do you have 15 or 19?

second, run waste gate spring only. connect the nipple on the compressor outlet to the nipple on the WGA. Once this is done you should make 15-or-19psi easily at 4500 rpms even with the worst tune.

If you dont, you need to check the WGA flapper. Drop the downpipe and inspect it to make sure its got a tight seal, if it does, adjust the arm a couple of turns and try again.

If you still dont make boost, grab some heavy duty wire and wire the WGA arm to something so that it cannot open. Carefully stab the throttle while watching the boost... even if at this point you are only making 5psi.. you have some problems.

What boost gauge are you using? What EM are you using? can you post logs?

good luck.

p.s. Make sure you have no exhaust leaks prior to the turbo. (like make sure the front O2 sensor didng blow out ) --- when you were getting your turbo rebuilt did you toss your vf39 on and it worked fine?

I have recently been switching actuators & from what you describe it sounds exactly like when the WG is open/leaking.
