There was an air saw and an angle grinder. You can find them all over and you usually get what you pay for with air tools. My .02

the angle grinder you can find at lowes. Hitachi makes great power tools a a fair price.

The air recip saw (sometimes called an auto body saw) really range in price. (20 dollars at harbor frieght probably not the best) ingersol rand makes the other saw pictured http://www.irtools.com/IS/category.asp-en-2806 but it is pricy.

Ampro makes a good middle-of-the-road air body saw and most Advanced Auto parts stores keep them in stock.

Yeah same here. It was the first time I ever did one and I did it by myself in 8 hours. I don't even know how the paint had time to dry on some of the time estimates people toss out there.

Daemon,

got my dr525 yesterday and started last night on my 06' STi.

i was wondering the same thing... do i grind these tabs off?

glad to know i was suposed to because i ground them off... still doesn't quite fit so i'll be gringing that lower brace down about 1/4" tonight

i have the 06' so the bumper cap should be a project too

glad i have a dremel and grinder

also, where are you going to put that sensor to the left of the center horn? mine wont fit behind the intercooler... i will have to move it and the wire isn't that long.

i will be working on it tonight. call me and we can compare notes. mine didn't have instructions either so i have been looking at the 725 instructions on the net too.

you jogged my memory steve. It seems like what I did was losen a bolt/scew behind the horn which allowed me to rotate its mounting bracket which gave me enough slack for the wire without having to lengthen it.

I won't be able to get back to my install until at least Monday. Hopefully you'll have a full write up for me by then.

Update... 2006 STi & DR525

Well I've got all the hardware in installed.

The good: the build quality and fitment of the parts is overall very good

The bad: no instructions? wtf
no place to store washer fluid (oem bottle won't fit & no replacment)
no gasket for stock bov supplied
the engine oil fill cap won't go on because the upper ic piping
sits on top of the fill spout (not sure how to fix this one)
lots of metal cutting/grinding required
have parts left over & don't know what they are for

I will be working on the bumper cap tonight and will keep you posted.

Parts left over, eh? I hate it when that happens, unless the instructions (if there were any) say there are extra parts. The instructions with the APS turbo inlet pipe were great with lots of full color pics. I'm still dissapointed in that respect with this kit. Not that it is as complicated as the inlet pipe install was, but still. At the very least they should say "you WILL have to cut and grind your chasis for this install." OK. I'll stop whinning now.

BTW, over lunch today I finished all the cutting and grinding and have mounted the IC core.

You can compare this shot to my first one to see how much I removed.

And it fits!

Now I just have the other 100 pieces parts to figure out. Maybe after work, if not, then more at lunch tomorrow.
