Default External wastegate, solution for boostcreep?

If I get an aftermarket wastegate installed on my VF-39, will it eliminate boost creep? I am running stage 2 with a catless downpipe. I have seen my boost gauge hit 20-21psi in some gears.
Id rather not port my wastegate, since I wouldnt trust anyone here in Houston to do it.
Could I go with an external wastegate? And how would that affect my engine or tuning with cobb?

Here ya go: http://www.pghsubarus.com/tech/porting/porting.aspx

You should change your base and real time maps to the LWG maps. This will help compensate for the boost creep, but it won't fix it.

You could port it yourself. An external gate would be very costly. You would have to weld the wastegate flapper shut on the internal gate. Then change your uppipe to incorporate the wastegate. I thought your were looking to upgrade to a larger turbo in the future? If so, just run the LWG maps until you can get your new turbo, unless of course it is going to be forever till you upgrade.

So boost creep is only bad for the turbo not the engine? lol. This whole time I thought the wastegate on the VF-39 affected the engine...
And yes Ill run LWG.

boost creep is bad for the engine because it can cause you to run lean.

yes, an ewg would get rid of boost creep but most people dont put one on the stocker.

I did. Haven't had it tuned yet but I know of someone else who did and made nearly as much power/torque on meth as a 20G. That is exactly what I am doing. Good bye boost creep.

I just read that entire article. But Im still unclear as to what exactly is BAD about it. Sure, boost keeps crawling up, but does that affect the engine? or turbo longevity?

It is bad on your engine because if the car over boost and the car does not add enough fuel to compensate for the over boosting then you will detonate the motor and possibly cause severe damage to the internals. The Cobb LWG tries to control some of the the boost creep by adding more fuel up top before boost cut. Boost cut will occur to try to keep you from blowing your motor. Before long the temperatures outside will be getting warmer so your boost creep will most likely settle down the warmer the weather gets.
