Question Question Regarding Emissions Laws in North Carolina

Hey I currently live in Hawaii but will be headed to Fort Bragg, NC in October of this year. Right now I am running a Catless TBE because Hawaii has no laws on Emissions.

Just wondering if I will be okay with my Helix Catless DP, or if I need to invest in a High Flow Cat Downpipe before I get back to the mainland.. Wanna make my move as easy as possible..

Thanks

Well in NC only certain counties have emissions regulations. I will check and get back to you on whether the county where Fort Bragg is has emmisions regulations.

they will do a visual inspection. if your car was older than a 96model than they would hook it up to an emmission reader and measure your exhaust.

NC does not use the exhaust pipe probe on anything older than 96 anymore. Starting in 2006, 96 and older just get a visual.

So does that mean they just give my exhaust a quick visual and thats it??? I do still have my stock cats if worst came to worst and I had to put on my cats again.

I'll research this more, thanks for the replies

They are going to do a visual inspection and are going to connect to your OBDII port and check for CELs and readiness codes.

Does that also clear the readiness flags? If so You wouldn't want to do that just before your test.

i'm not sure... all it says on the ap screen is that it'll clear cel's. it doesn't mention anything else.
