Exclamation SOA Recalls new 15208AA09A Oil Filter

So, I went to my local dealer yesterday to pick up 8 15208AA100 oil filters since they are going away. The parts manager asked me why I am buying 8 of them. I told him that I want to have a stock of the "old" oil filter because it has been discontinued. Then, he smiled at me and said that the new oil filter 15208AA09A is a crappy one. SOA is recalling them due to oil leaks that have been reported. He advised me to let everyone know one about this and that they should take your vehicles back to replace the crappy white 15208AA09A oil filter with the black 15208AA100. He also told me that SOA is bringing back the black 15208AA100.
Whoever has the white 15208AA09A Oil Filter, please do yourself a favor and take it back to the dealer for replacement. Probably, the dealer will not charge you for the oil change since it was a defective part. This filter is not only for the STi. You might also have it at your wife's Legacy or Outback.
Here is the email that I got from the parts manager. I removed the top part with the email addresses for obvious reasons. The email came from SOA Fixed Operations:

Great! Although it is slightly of topic for General, I wanted to put it here so more people be aware of the issue.

wonderful...right after I put mine on :-p....I'd have to and buy some more quarts of oil wouldn't I, if I just made the switch to synthetic and want to continue with it. This sucks, five brand new quarts of oil down the drain....

Thanks for the info. I guess it's a good thing I had my oil changed elsewhere.

Looks like they are only recalling the ones in stock not the ones installed.

I did this already and according to my dealer all they have to do is make sure there are no leaks. So no free filters atleast for now.

That is why I go to the dealership for my oil change; I just called them and made an appointment to get this crappy oil filter changed at no cost.

Thanks for the info!

So I guess those of us who haven't stocked up on the black 15208AA100 filters should take this chance once they restock them at the dealerships? But at $10 each for the OEM ones, I'm wondering if I should just go with the Mobil 1 or Pure One filters for less money.
